Add a Document from an existing File

Does anybody know how to add an DTML Document with uploading the contents from a local File on the filesystem. I need to do this in DTML Code (or Python?) and not in the managementscreen. The Code: <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLDocument('id','title','datei.html')"> only adds a Document with the contents 'datei.html'. Is there any other option to do something like this? Steffen

<dtml-in item> iteration on INSERT method

Hi all, I've used the <dtml-in item> iteration many times with dbms tables and ZSQL methods, but always in context of an UPDATE table SET where clause. This works because the iteration is selective to a certain value that is set from the html page at POST or the form. What I WANT to do now is INSERT into table using the same item construction, when a checkbox in a multiple record form is checked. I can see in the REQUEST.form that only certain values are present, but I cannot be selective of this in the ZSQL method to add the records. Here is what I have for the ZSQL method: <dtml-in item> insert into lpref (uid, linkid, hiearchy) values ( <dtml-sqlvar uid type=string>, <dtml-sqlvar linkid type=int>, 0 ) <dtml-var sql_delimiter> </dtml-in> What happens is that ALL items on the form go into the DB because the item construction does not care if the checkbox is checked or not. What I'd like is a WHERE clause tacked to the end, but this doesnt seem to work. Dont think and INSERT INTO table WHERE is valid.... but will have to dig the MySQL refs. Another thing I could do is query the checkbox value inside the iteration, but it doesnt work because I think that Item wraps itself in a way that I cant address it properly. Such as: <dtml-in item> <dtml-if "favLink"> insert into lpref (uid, linkid, hiearchy) values ( <dtml-sqlvar uid type=string>, <dtml-sqlvar linkid type=int>, 0 ) </dtml-if> <dtml-var sql_delimiter> </dtml-in> But I get an attribute error.... SQLTEST is case insensitive?

I have the following ZSQL method: SELECT "URL"."ID", "val_Protocol"."Protocol", "URL", "URL"."Name", "URL"."Description", "URL"."Created" FROM "URL", "val_Protocol" <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest ID type=int optional> <dtml-and> "val_Protocol"."ID" = "URL"."val_ProtocolID" </dtml-sqlgroup> When I set ID equal to 1 (to test) I get this back: Error, psycopg.ProgrammingError: ERROR: Attribute 'id' not found SELECT "URL"."ID", "val_Protocol"."Protocol", "URL", "URL"."Name", "URL"."Description", "URL"."Created" FROM "URL", "val_Protocol" where (ID = 1 and "val_Protocol"."ID" = "URL"."val_ProtocolID" ) The problem is two fold: 1) ID = 1 should be "ID" = 1 so that PostgreSQL will treat it as a case sensitive string. 2) ID = 1 should really be "URL"."ID", but I can't figure out how to pass that through sqltest! Any help is appreciated.... I have tried this with a zpopyda and zope-psycopgda, neither worked. And, no, using 'as' to rename the select to lowercase _does not_ work. Ciao! -- "Clothes make the man. LoginManager & Cookie Login

I noticed that the LoginManager supports Basic Auth Login, Basic Cookie Login and REMOTE_USER login by default. Does that mean that if I don't use cookies, and I want a form-based login, LoginManager will not work for me?

It will not work in DTML, but in an external Python Method: you take your DTML string (stored in the database) and create a document template object from it. You then render (call) this object. For how, you do all that, you should look at the "DocumentTemplate" package in your Zope distribution. Most relevant "DT_String.py" and "DT_HTML.py". Dieter

How to get the url without the domain part, using <dtml-in>?

Is it possible to return the absolute url without the domain/IP part, while in an iteration? With absolute_url I get this: http://100.0.0.1/folder0/folder1/folder2/current_object , and instead I'd like to have this: /folder0/folder1/folder2/current_object I tried the BASEPATH special variable, but it seems that it doesn't work within <dtml-in>. The other downside is that it needs an argument to get to know the nesting level of the object. Has anyone found a workaround? Thanks in advance, Ausum

Dynamic sorting in <dtml-in>

I feel like this should be easy, but I'm scratching my head try to remember if I've seen an easy solution. I'm doing a standard objectValues dtml-in: <dtml-in objectValues> <dtml-var xxxxx> </dtml-in> But I want to sort it by the attribute that is passed in the URL. I looked at the DTML source of the Zope site (where they do this), but didn't see how their sort_on was being used. Of course, I could do this as a python script, etc.--but is there a Q&D DTML way? Strategies for building ZPatterns applications as python Products?

Hi, I'm thinking about migrating my ZPatterns-based application, which is currently built from standard Zope components, into a python Product. I'm looking for ideas on the best way to organize the application. I'm not trying to build a general-purpose application that can be instantiated easily, but I do need to consider reusing the application in the future, which will require customizing features, UI, etc. My main confusing is whether I should put everything in the python product, or also have methods in the application instance. Putting some methods (especially UI) in the instance will make it easier to customize, but then large pieces of the application are out of the product and I lose the advantages that made me want to use a product in the first place. OTOH, keeping everything in the product requires creating a new, modified product every time I need a new instance with different UI or features (this might not be so bad considering that it does not get instantiated very often, and that a lot of customizing work is expected anyway - but it would make it hard to merge in code updates that are relevant to all instances). Also, when the app is built as a product it will define its own DataSkin classes, so ZClasses will not be used at all - but then there's no place for customizable object methods. Another issue is that for the product to provide all the code I need to create my own Racks - every Rack in the application has to be a separate class which adds methods and SkinScripts specific to that Rack. And every Specialist needs a customized Racks management form that allows for adding the appropriate Racks for that Specialist. This seems like a huge amount of work compared to managing a standard objects and ZClasses application. I'd appreciate any suggestions or description of how people are dealing with these decisions.
