When you know, how to do something with JavaScript, you always can use "hidden form controls" or query strings to pass the information to Zope (or any other HTTP server). Dieter

Zope implements HTTP 1.1 only to a small extend. If you have programming skills, you could enhance the "OFS.Image.File.index_html" method to support partial loads. Dieter

Its the browser that resolves the relative URL relative to the base it knows. You can use "RESPONSE.setBase" to tell the browser the true base URL. My memory tells me faintly that such an issue has already been discussed in the mailing lists (zope, zope-dev). When I remember right, ZODBCDA synchronizes all database requests --> searchable list archives... Dieter

Apology! (was: [Zope] Problems with DTML-IN patch!!!)

You are right! "{next,previous}-sequence-start-number" and friends are still there. Nobody made the stupidity to remove them. Please (Brian) accept my apology for my quite rude accusation. I was just not smart enough to understand the ingenious code in "DT_In" and "DT_InSV". Let's review the situation: "DT_In" only defines "next-sequence-start-index". But what is pushed onto the DTML namespace is in fact a "DT_InSV.sequence_variables" object. Its "__getitem__" is used to look up sequence variables. The "__getitme__" code is quite sophisticated: If the key is not defined, it splits it at the last '-' into prefix and suffix (in our case, suffix is "number"). If the class "sequence_variables" has a method whose name is given by suffix (this is the case for "number" and many of its friends), then the corresponding "index" key is looked up and the method applied to it. This way, "next-sequence-start-number" and friends come into existence, without that one easily recognized how this happens. Sorry for the false accusations! Dieter

You may have a look at URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/CatalogSupport.html It renders DTML to obtain and filter HTML for indexing purposes. You may also look at URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html It contains a description how DTML objects are rendered. Dieter

Problems with acquisition in PythonScript objects
by Jérôme Loisel 05 Mar '01

05 Mar '01

Hi! I am having getting objects through acquisition in PythonScript objects. I do not know if I am doing it wrong or if this is a bug... I have object foo (an image) in my root folder. I have bar, a PythonScript which calls foo's absolute_url() method. bar works as expected when viewing it from the root folder, but never from subfolders. I get attribute errors: foo does not exist. I have tried the following ways of calling foo's absolute_url(): context['foo'].absolute_url() _['foo'].absolute_url() _.getitem('foo').absolute_url() Yes, I have bound _ to the namespace. In all cases, I get attribute errors saying that foo does not exist. It seems to me that acquisition from within PythonScripts is not working... Any thoughts? BTW, I have also tried the following, which obviously does not work: context.getitem('foo').absolute_url() Thanks in advance! commit_sub error in add_NetShowLogFile (a ZClass with baseclasses :CatalogAware and File)
by Farrell, Troy 05 Mar '01

05 Mar '01

I have a ZClass NetShowLogFile. It has baseclasses of CatalogAware and File. When I try to add a NetShowLogFile, my python script adds the file(between 200KB and 3MB), parses the file, executes many SQL methods(two per line in the file -- average 1000 lines), and context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect()s to a different page. The problem is this: After it finishes parsing the file and inserting it's contents into the database, I get a Transaction error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: commit_sub Any ideas? It looks similar to http://classic.zope.org:8080/Collector/1895/view and to http://classic.zope.org:8080/Collector/629/view It also looks like I may have to move my files to LocalFS objects and rebuild my ZClasses :( Thanks for the second time today, Troy
