"Invalid request; data was omitted"

Hello, I can not post data anymore (on a live site). Every webform I try to post, from the Zope content management page or from my own forms, fails. Does anyone know of a solution? LoginManager
by Gerald Gutierrez 06 Feb '01

Ahh I see that the mailing list is working once again ... A while ago there was discussion on how the LoginManager was not functioning correct with Zope 2.3.0 because Zope had changed. Has the situation changed thus far? I would very much like to try Zope out, but I'd like to be able to use an SQL backend for the user database (in addition to the ZClasses and the Python scripting, etc...), and LoginManager seems like the best choice.

Re: [Zope] Zope memory usage out of control
by Gerald Gutierrez 06 Feb '01

I'm uncertain as to how to tell for sure, but I would very much expect that all those "processes" are indeed threads and that, really, only 11.9% of the memory is taken up by Zope, not the 6 * 11.9% = 71.4% that the process table seems to indicate. Error message using EventFolder with Zope 2.30
by Bob Campbell 06 Feb '01

06 Feb '01

Hi, Can anyone help with the following error message? I installed the product EventFolder successfully on Zope 2.2. After switching to 2.3.0 I can't seem to get it to work. Being new to Zope, I'm at a loss, any ideas/help would be appreciated. I've installed the product, imported the zexp into the Products folder and that seems ok...the product does not appear broken. I created a folder, added myself (as manager) as a user, and clicked on Add>>>Event Folder, typed in an ID,clicked Add and the following error is generated... Thanks, Bob Campbell Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: Catalog

The zope list should be working now - this'll confirm it (or, um, not). This is not the end of story - we're doing an expedient thing while our maillist guy is figuring out the real problem. Whatever we wind up doing, we're going to avoid more downtime as strenuously as we can. Ken klm(a)digicool.com

Thanks Fred, On passing 'request' (why the extra argument anyway?) I got Error Type: TypeError Error Value: not enough arguments; expected 3, got 2 so I'm wondering have you got LoginManager to work on the Zope 2.3.0 release? >>On Wed, Jan 31, 2001 at 09:25:08AM +1300, W. ANNOUNCE: please have a look at ZDatabaseTool
by Andreas Heckel 01 Feb '01

We at easyleading.org are pleased to announce a new Zope Product. ZDatabaseTool provides a set of wizards to let you manage databases more comfortable. At the moment PostgreSQL is supported. The code is not yet released but I want you to have a look at the screen shots and the online demo. http://www.zope.org/Members/aeg/ZDatabaseTool -- ________________________________________________________________________ Andreas Heckel andreas(a)aHIT.de

detecting if an object exists in a folder
by Joh Johannsen 01 Feb '01

01 Feb '01

What is the easy way to check if an object exists in a folder? I have a folder "testfolder" containing a single image "fff". The following DTML finds it (though I'm sure there are easier ways): <dtml-in expr="PARENTS[0].testfolder.objectValues(['Image'])"> got image '<dtml-var id>' <dtml-if expr="id=='fff'"> T1: got string <dtml-else> T1: did not see: '<dtml-var id>' </dtml-if> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('xid', _.str(id))"> <dtml-if expr="xid=='fff'"> T2: got string <dtml-else> T2: did not see: '<dtml-var id>' </dtml-if> </dtml-in> but the problem is -- both the comparisons above fail. The output on the page as I see it from my browser: got image 'fff' T1: did not see: 'fff' T2: did not see: 'fff' So how can I tell if an image of a particular name exists in a folder? The string comparison fails because whatever it is, "id" is not a string, and cannot be converted to a string, even though it really looks like some (top secret zope) code is having no problem doing such a conversion. In any case, all I'm really trying to do is to make a DTML method that will tell me if an image object of a particular name exists in a folder. Any suggestions? Thank you, JJ

SiteRoot help
by peter bengtson 01 Feb '01

01 Feb '01

There should be a book written about Siteaccess/SiteRoot/Access Rules and Proxing Apache, but right now I'm just going to have to ask the community. This is how the URL can look like before and SiteRoots are set at all. Ex. (domain 0) http://www.localserver.com:8080/projects/myfriends/peter/familyphotos Now with a SiteRoot that "replaces" http://www.localserver.com:8080/projects Ex. (domain 1) http://www.manage-your-friend-account.com/peter/familyphotos And also a SiteRoot that "replaces" http://www.localserver.com:8080/projects/peter Ex. (domain 2) http://www.peterthefriend.com/familyphotos Do you see the difference between domain 1 and domain 2 ?? Only one folder down, then there's a new SiteRoot. Now to the problem. For Peter to go to his "manage-your-friend-account.com site", he bookmarks http://www.manage-your-friend-account.com/peter/ But when he goes to that URL, the first folder he bumps into is a folder that has a SiteRoot already!! Crash!! This causes the bookmarked URL to change to the one he crashes in to. I don't want that! I want to be able to fly into a folder that has a SiteRoot in it, but not to have the SiteRoot there affect the URL I'm coming in with. How is this possible?? Any nifty workaround hack is welcomed. In site/domain/proxy confusion. Peter
