AW: [Zope] Including links to style sheet and javascript files

It works the same in Zope like in usual filesystem. You can upload all the files via ftp and it should work. But Zope provides some more powerful features to solve this problem. Take a look here: http://www.zope.org/Members/mindlace/css_zope/ http://www.zope.org/Members/haqa/ZStyleSheet Cheers Damir > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Tom Freeman [mailto:Tom.Freeman@niss.ac.uk] > Gesendet: Dienstag, 6. Interbase gvibDA Adapter - Threading and Interbase Roles
by W. Robert Kellock 06 Feb '01

06 Feb '01

Hi, I was wondering whether you could tell me which way we should go when using the gvibDA database adapter. In your documentation it says: "gvib.threadsafety This attribute indicates what level of thread safety the code supports. It is set to 1 - Threads may share the module but not connections." In Zope does this mean that database requests are serialized or will the connection crash if two or more SQL methods attempt to use the connector simultaneously? Your documentation appears to suggest that using External Methods which open and close the database in a single pass enables us to bypass the thread safety problem, by riding on the back of the ZODB multi-threaded architecture. Is that true or would a heavy traffic site that is constantly opening and closing connections bring Interbase to it's knees? Finally, it doesn't appear that either gvibDA or ZODBC support Interbase roles. I guess we don't really need them anyway if we use Zope's security properly :-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------- W.Robert Kellock Ph: +64 3 326 6115 Sales Manager Fax: +64 3 326 6115 Credit Systems Control Ltd Web: www.creditscore.co.nz "making decisions easy" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------

Using SSI with Zope
by Tom Freeman 06 Feb '01

06 Feb '01

hi! I really need to find out how to have server side includes within a zope document. Is this possible? so far i've created an external method in the Extensions directory which looks like this... def hx_include(filename): return '' % filename and set this up in Zope using the 'External Method - Add' option. All is well, but how can I now actually use the ssi within my webpage? any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks, Tom. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Freeman Industrial Placement NISS, Eduserv Tel: 01225 323789 Fax: 01225 826177 Web: http://www.niss.ac.uk

Installing ZoracleDA/DCOracle
by Shai Berger 06 Feb '01

06 Feb '01

Hi guys, We've been having quite some problems here with Zope and Oracle, and I'm beginning to suspect minor binary incompatibilities between different components of our system. My main concern is this: We use a binary Zope installation (2.2.5). DCOracle comes as a source-only distribution, because it needs to be compiled and linked against the right versions of Oracle and Python. The thing is, the Python that comes in a Zope binary installation cannot be used for this compilation; we compiled DCOracle against our system's independent Python 1.5.2 installation, put it in the ZOracleDA, and it works -- but makes Zope hang a lot in its select (I know because I killed it -INT, after it wouldn't respond to any connections including the monitor). My first question is: Is anybody else using ZOracleDA/DCOracle with a binary release? If so, how did you compile and link it? More generally, has anyone else (except for Dieter, who was kind enough to share such an experience with a Zope 2.1.6) seen Zope get stuck like this? More generally yet, am I on a goose-chase? Does anybody have experience passing binary libraries between Python installations, and can tell me it always works? Thanks, Shai.

ParsedXML (and PyXML) for MacOSX?
by Jim Harrison 06 Feb '01

06 Feb '01

I'd be interested in hearing whether anyone has successfully compiled and installed PyXML for OSX. It's needed for the ParsedXML product. I'm running Zope on OSX and I was able to install distutils for python OK, but I get errors during compilation of PyXML. Jim Harrison Univ. of Pittsburgh
