Renderable Base ZClass
by Brown Fox 11 May '00

11 May '00

Hello, it's not clear to me how the Renderable Base ZClass product is working. I've created a Zclass image with the renderable base property selected. If i put in it an index_html file i can see all the properties but not anymore the image, why? Thanks, Bruno ______________________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Customizing the Security Model

How can I change the way the security model works such that to view an object, a user must be a member of ALL associated roles, not just one of the roles? -- Don Johnson drj826(a)acm.org http://drj826.home.netcom.com ICU: 64729954

HELP: External methods as methods of objects...
by M. Papillon 11 May '00

11 May '00

After searching through the archives for something relevant it seems like most people are calling external methods from DTML, rather than accessing them directly through the web. So I guess my first question is, is there a big reason for that? My real question: I've set up an external method that is meant to parse the file it is called on. So if my folder has a File object called "spam", and my external method "parse", I can call "/spam/parse" to call the method on the object spam: self.id() is "spam". However, as far as I can tell this only works for files and folders; if I try it on a DTML Document I get a missing docstring error. You can't add __doc__ as a property, and there's a __doc__ both at the top level of my module and for the function. Any way around this? You can see my minimal failed example at http://www.zope.org/Members/aez/example TIA...

using ZODB/Catalog outside of Zope - What am I doing wrong?
by Roman Milner 11 May '00

11 May '00

Hello. I'm trying to use the ZODB and Catalog out side of zope. I have three fields in my class: two FieldIndex and one TextIndex. Searching on the FieldIndexes works fine but searching on the TextIndex returns strange results. Sometimes I get nothing on something that should hit and other times the wrong result for things that do hit. The two scripts are below. If you try running the search script and pass it "Second" you will see what I mean. It will return "First Test" instead of "Second Test". dtml-break
by Jonothan Farr 11 May '00

11 May '00

Tres Seaver suggested than when you need to use a break construct in a dtml-in tag then it's time to use Python instead of DTML. Respectfully, I disagree. So without much ado, here's the dtml-break tag. http://www.zope.org/Members/jfarr/Patches/dtml-break This is a patch to Zope 2.1.6 but should work with most earlier versions as well. I haven't tested it extensively with batches. If you find it useful and/or find problems please let me know. Many thanks to Phil Harris for his idea of how to do this easily in DTML. I just implemented it in Python. --jfarr "Perl is worse than Python because people wanted it worse." Larry Wall, 14 Oct 1998

I seem to be missing a "break" DTML tag
by Dennis Nichols 11 May '00

11 May '00

Yo Zopistas! Let's say that I want to make a list of nodes from the top down (the reverse of PARENTS). Easy enough: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('topdown', [])"> <dtml-in PARENTS skip_unauthorized> <dtml-call "topdown.insert(0, _['sequence-item'])"> </dtml-in> However, what I really want to do is quit reversing when I get up to a particular level, say the point at which I get to my Portal folder. I think I need to insert a line just before the </dtml-in> that says (untested :-) <dtml-break "_['sequence-item'].meta_type == 'Portal'"> But I find no documentation on a break command. Is there any such construct in dtml? Assuming not, any other elegant solution to this? -- Dennis Nichols nichols(a)tradingconnections.com

maintaining a variable
by Josh On 10 May '00

10 May '00

Hello I want a single interger variable that can be accessed and updated from dtml files in various folders. I want to be able to do things like x=x+1 and ask what x is. what is the best way to do this in zope? Where might I read a tutorial on it? Please note I have classes and catalogs and sql methods working (to a certain degree!) but I really am having problems getting a simple solution to this problem. Presently I have set the variable as a property of a folder. I want to update it from a method inside a dtml file inside that folder, but have not been able to work out its address. I can read the variable, but I think that that is thanks to aquistion? Thanks for your time josh oN (sorry for cross postings on this topic, I won't post to zope dev anymore!)
