User is logged in? (LoginManager)
by Jon Delheimer 10 May '00

10 May '00

How do you determine if the user is logged in? You can not check for "Anonymous User" because the user can briefly be "LoggingInUser". You can not check for the Anonymous role because LoginManager forces everybody to have the Anonymous role. I think if LoginManager gave LoggingInUser the Anonymous role and stopped forcing everybody else to have the Anonymous role, I could use the Anonymous role for the test. Is there another way to determine if the user is logged in? Thanks.

hi I installed worldpilot, it presents me with a login screen which doesn't let me in. I didn't specify a vaild IMP server when I made the object, is this causing the problems?. cheers tom ------------------------------------------------------------ tom(a)othermedia.com tom.smith(a)i.am http://www.dmrl.com http://www.OTHERmedia.com http://i.am/tom.smith phone:// 0171 956 3160 mobile://07720 288285 video-conference:// 0171 956 3071 location://57a Farringdon Road, London, EC1M 3JB http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?Postcode2Map?EC1M+3JB&title=Digital +Media+Research+Labs&back=DMRL&url=http://www.dmrl.com ------------------------------------------------------------

mod_pcgi2 version 1.1.0
by Oleg Broytmann 10 May '00

10 May '00

Hello! http://www.zope.org/Members/phd/mod_pcgi2 New version of mod_pcgi2 released. I did all my best to track and nail down all the problems related to Location. I spent many time with gdb and traced two different problems in Apache. I don't reckon them as "bugs" - these are probably features that I do not get right :) As these are not bugs - there are no fixes and small patches. I needed to create (a little bit too complex) machinery to overcome these features. More details in README and source code. Many people had helped me to debug, most notable Thomas Viehmann <tv(a)beamnet.de>. Cheers, Thomas! Many thanks!!! This is EXPERIMENTAL and DEVELOPMENT release. You are warned! I do not recommend to run it on a production server. Please, report any problems, bugs, failures. And please - report success stories too! After some success stories I'll promote the module to stable state (or will continue debug it). User Class with more properties
by RC Compaan 10 May '00

10 May '00

Is there a product available that allows you to add more properties to the User class. I thought of creating a ZClass that has "User" as base class but I'm not sure if I will be able to add this new user to a user folder. A question triggered by this scenario: Does Zope only use user in user folders for authentication? Roché Compaan

Text only pages
by John Hile 10 May '00

10 May '00

We have a page on our site that is intended to return plain-text only -- no html. The page consists of a dtml method that calls a single External method which, in turn, returns plain text read from a file. The page is read by a small client that uses HTTP to access the site. Since the file that the text comes from can be any file, it may, itself, contain html code. We've found that, in certain cases, if the plain text happens to include html tags, Zope will insert an empty html header at the beginning of the page. It contains only "<html><head></head>". We've tried setting the content type in the RESPONSE header to "text/plain", but it has no effect. Anyone know what's going on and how we can suppress it?

RE: [Zope] ZLDAP 1.0 beta 2
by Jeffrey Shell 10 May '00

Alright. What is happening is that this is failing non gracefully when it can't retrieve the base entry. This will be handled better in the next beta and/or final release of current snapshot which may happen this week. There is now a Wiki in the ZopeLDAP Product that will start to collect some documentation and how-to's. It will also be a capture point for future directions. http://www.zope.org/Members/jshell/ZopeLDAP/ZopeLDAPWiki/FrontPage > -----Original Message----- > From: Petr Knapek [mailto:knapek@knapek.pvt.net] > Sent: Wednesday, May 10, 2000 6:20 AM > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: [Zope] ZLDAP 1.0 beta 2 > > > Hi Jeffrey, > I tried to install your product ZLDAP on my Zope 2.1.6 (Debian Linux > box). Preview Release: ZUBB (Zope Ultimate Bulletin Board)
by J. Atwood 10 May '00

10 May '00

http://www.zope.org/Members/BwanaZulia/ZUBB/ This is my pre-release test of ZUBB (Zope Ultimate Bulletin Board) which is based heavily on ZDiscussions. Before I announce it on Zope.org (or before Ken posts it to ZopeNewbies.. Not yet Ken. <grin>) I would like a few more people to try downloading and installing it. Test Board: http://www.bwanazulia.com/kenya/discussions/test/ Feel free to bang away at that. Basically I took ZDiscussions, ripped out ZConfera (or the product anyway), added a bunch of features to it and put it back up under the ZUBB name. I will rename the full product and all of pieces soon, but for now since a few people have wanted to get their hands on it I am putting it up in its "green" form. Please send feedback to this list. Thanks, J

How big is a folder in ZODB
by Richard Moon 10 May '00

10 May '00

Is there any way to see how much space a folder and its objects and sub-folders takes up in the ZODB ? I want to offer Zope hosting services but I can't see how I can establish how much space a client is using. I need a du command for the ZODB I reckon ! Any ideas ? Thanks in advance. ZLDAP 1.0 beta 2
by Petr Knapek 10 May '00

Hi Jeffrey, I tried to install your product ZLDAP on my Zope 2.1.6 (Debian Linux box). I can open connection to an LDAP server and to get search results when an LDAP method is used. That's no problem. What annoys me is this Zope error message when I try to make LDAP connection object browsable in manage mode (browse tab): Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource.
