Trouble with forms
by jeffr＠odeon.net 26 Mar '00

26 Mar '00

Greetings, I've got a form that has three fields. One for year, one for day, and one for month. The selection parts of the form are similar to the following: <select name="date_mm"> <option value="01">January <option value="02">February <option value="03">March <option value="04">April <option value="05">May <option value="06">June <option value="07">July <option value="08">August <option value="09">September <option value="10">October <option value="11">November <option value="12">December </select> What I'm trying to do is pull the 'date_mm' (along with the other two fields, 'date_yy' and 'date_dd') into the namespace area so I can do something like: <input type="hidden" name="event.date" value= \ "<dtml-var var_yy>-<dtml-var var-mm>-<dtml-var var-dd>"> I would expect that I can use something like: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('var_mm', 'date_mm')"> However, that doesn't work like I'd hoped. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Jeff

dtml-tree question
by Oliver Andrich 26 Mar '00

26 Mar '00

Hi, I have a problem with dtml-tree. But I think that is just a problem I have, cause I don't completely understand the dtml-tree thing. I have the following dtml code snippet <dtml-tree skip_unauthorized=1 branches_expr="objectValues('Folder')" sort="order"> <dtml-if "'index_html' in objectIds()"> <a href="<dtml-var tree-item-url>" target="contentframe"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> <dtml-else> <dtml-var title_or_id> </dtml-if> </dtml-tree> Well, I traverse my folder structure to build a nice dtml-tree from it. So far the insertion of links, the if-clause of the dtml-if statement, works really, really fine. But I also want people to be able to click on the elements that are part of the tree, so that they don't need to click on the plus signs but can also click on the text next to the plus sign. This is the else-clause in the dtml-if statement. But everything I tried didn't work. Is is solveable? And how? Or do I have to build my own tree using a recursive call of a dtml-in loop? Bye, Oliver Andrich P.S.: For all of you who have seen my questions about users, roles, and so on. I like to tell you, that I am writing a HOWTO on this, so that people don't have to dig into the information and bother people with questions, as I did.

help me understand NDS
by Timothy Wilson 26 Mar '00

26 Mar '00

Hi everyone, I'm hoping that someone on the list has some experience with NetWare's NDS. The school district where I work is a NetWare shop with the exception of the Web server which is running Linux. A couple of my students and I do the Web stuff on the side. Starting in the fall, I'd like to begin using the PTK and authenticating users against our NDS directory. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me whether Novell's recent release of their eDirectory product for Linux will affect how we approach this. Are the existing LDAP Zope products sufficient? Hello, Since this is a frequent question I summarize the process in a howto. It is awaiting review. You can take a look at the draft here: <http://www.zope.org/Members/AlexR/ChangingBaseClasses>. Zope and Pike
by David Brown 26 Mar '00

26 Mar '00

Now that a beta version of Pike has been released (see http://www.scripting.com/ and http://pikebeta.userland.com/) has anyone given any thought to a Pike compatible interface to Zope? It's a cool way to interact with a content-management system. Unfortunately it is only available for the Mac and Windows. dave

Project proposal: The Gestalt System (using Zope)
by Tim Churches 26 Mar '00

26 Mar '00

The Gestalt System project aims to develop a free, Open Source, object-oriented software framework which makes use of other free, Open Source software tools for the purposes of managing, analysing, and reporting on quantitative data in a manner which is suited to modern, networked computing environments in which processor, memory, and storage resources are abundant but time is scarce and requirements are forever changing. The Gestalt System may be of particular interest to Zope users because we propose to use Zope to provide some important aspects of the project's infrastructure. Full details of the project proposal can be found in the Gestalt System Manifesto which is available at http://gestalt-system.sourceforge.net We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have on the project proposal - please send them to gestalt-system-discuss(a)lists.sourceforge.net You might want to subscribe to this list or to the low-volume gestalt-system-news list in order to receive announcements. Please see the project Web page at http://gestalt-system.sourceforge.net for details of how to subscribe. If you wish your feedback to be kept private, you can respond to the authors of the project proposal: Tim Churches at tchur(a)bigpond.com and Karsten M. Self at kmself(a)ix.netcom.com Please note that the Reply-To address of this message is set to gestalt-system-discuss(a)lists.sourceforge.net which means that your reply will by default be distributed to all subscribers to this list. RE: [Zope] ANN: ZEO goes Open Source
by Paul Everitt 26 Mar '00

Note that what you're describing isn't really part of ZEO, it's really more in the realm of what is already in Zope. Thus, if you're eager to add such a feature, you already have what you need. Start tinkering with the transaction machinery and see how you can extend it. --Paul > -----Original Message----- > From: Andrew Kenneth Milton [mailto:akm@mail.theinternet.com.au] > Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 2000 8:06 PM > To: Michel Pelletier > Cc: Andrew Kenneth Milton; Paul Everitt; zope(a)zope.org > Subject: Re: [Zope] ANN: ZEO goes Open Source > > > +----[ Michel Pelletier ]--------------------------------------------- > | > | > Is the ZSS replication and fail-over machinery in place yet? > | > | No. These are very deep issues, especially the replication > part.
