Zope 2.1.6 test - login problem.

I downloaded Zope-2.1.6-linux2-x86.tgz. I unpacked it in /usr/local/bin, then ./install, then ./start. Please see below and advise. I tried logging in several times. I even used python zpasswd.py access and picked a real simple password and cleartext. No joy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Compiling python modules ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ creating default access file Note: The super user name and password are 'superuser' and '********'. Help! How do undo a change without the management interface?
by Sean, Sharon & Kyle Harbour 25 Mar '00

Help! How do undo a change without the management interface? I managed to disable my management screen by installing the Simple URLS product to the root of Zope, now it only gives an error when it trys to render the management screens. The actual Zope site is still functioning though. I need to know how to roll back changes from the command line, so I can repair it. I'm running Linux/ZServer/Zope 2.14 Any ideas? I'd like to know if there is a straightforward way of doing this, I'd hate to mess up my Zope site now that it's working well. Thanks! Sean Harbour sharbour(a)home.com

Why don't tree tags work in index_html?
by Daniel.Weber＠SEMATECH.Org 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

If I put a tree tag in the index_html document it gives me nothing. If I put it in a document in the same folder it show everything properly. This seems odd to me, can anyone clue me in? I don't see anything in the docs about this behavior, it says it should default to the current folder.

Re: [Zope] Indirect calling of extensions?

A PythonMethod (it doesn't look like one)? A method of a class defined in a Python product (I don't see an instance anywhere)? I'll assume an ExternalMethod, because it looks most like your stuff. Assuming you have a folder, which contains/acquires an ExternalMethod, 'pyFetch', defined as taking two parameters, as above (I'm assuming from your description that you have the EM with a different ID than its underlying function -- that works, but for clarity I would generally avoid that). This folder contains/acquires some method, 'list_hrefs', which returns a list of objects which have an attribute, href. In a DTML method contained/acquired by that folder:: # I'm using a PythonMethod which returns a list of dicts, # so I am using the 'mapping' argument to get its key/values to # look like attributes. <ul> <dtml-in list_hrefs mapping> <li><dtml-var "this().pyFetch( href )"></li> </dtml-in> </ul> That works for me -- I get an unordered list of the results of calling pyFetch() on each href "attribute". -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver(a)palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com

variables part of REQUEST cached anywhere ? problem accessing site
by sathya 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

Our users were having problems accessing our site today. On examining the login dtml-method I noticed the values for loginid and password were the same each time no matter what the user typed in the form. I changed the variable names and everything was back to normal again. Any ideas why these variable values were the same across multiple browser sessions Thanks sathya -- ########################## necessity is the mother of invention ##########################

by Marc DANAI 25 Mar '00

Hi I've found two banners product under Zope site. My question is: how can I give the importance to banner? for example telling that particular banner comes up 30% more than other banners or ... Is there any simple way to do this kind of things in Zope? Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Re: [Zope] Zope hanging: internal ZODB error?
by Darran Edmundson 24 Mar '00

> I suspect it > has to do with poorly engineered ZClasses. Michel, I take back the assertion in my private email. I've just determined that this glitch in my CatalogAware Journal ZClass (using a custom catalog as per http://www.zope.org/Members/AlexR/CatalogAware) arises whenever a user edits an instance of this class. Users are using the standard Zope management interface but I have substituted the standard Properties View with an "Edit Journal" View. This is a copy of the Journal_AddForm method (with default values culled from the now existing instance). As per #4 in the above How-To, on submission this calls the following DTML method which puts my publicationCatalog in a strange state (requiring the update): <html><body> <dtml-call "propertysheets.Properties.manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call reindex_object> <p>Changes saved.</p> </body></html> I desperately need to sort this out before users start making changes. I certainly can't do an update of the catalog on every edit of an existing Journal instance. Any help is much appreciated. Cheers, Darran.

No one has been able to reproduce it or tell me how to reproduce it, therefore, I cannot fix it. The only thing I can tell you is that it has to do with ZClasses that catalog themselves and that it happens rarely and that updating your catalog allways fixes it. I suspect it has to do with poorly engineered ZClasses. > I don't dare execute the dtml below > again out of work hours when I can ask the sysadmin > for a restart. ZCrawler?
by Michael Sanborn 24 Mar '00

Does anyone know whether there's a Zope product or combination of products that could be used to create a full text search index on a given category of the Open Directory Project (ODP/DMOZ)? Say, if I have a web site dedicated to Garden Gnomes, is there some way that I could index every site listed in the Garden Gnomes category at ODP and provide a search interface for my visitors? I suppose I could settle for what ODP does already, but text searching would be cooler.
