checking sequence-item variable?
by mindlace 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

Zopistas, how do I pull this off? <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder'])"> <dtml-with sequence-item only> <dtml-unless noshow> do something </dtml-unless> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> I've tried messing around with the _ variable, with little luck. This is part of a menu, and the thing is, even if I don't want to show the folder in the menu, I don't want the menu to disappear when I'm in the folder. thanks, Ethan Fremen -- http://mindlace.net __________________ mindlace(a)imeme.net I don't want The Truth but I wouldn't mind a Big Analogy.

RE: [Zope] Zope and Pike
by Alexander Staubo 25 Mar '00

The people who maintain the _other_ Pike (http://pike.idonex.com/) will be happy about this -- not. Why can't people do a little name research before they hijack somebody else's name for their project? This new Pike will only hurt the original Pike's reputation, possibly even forcing the latter into changing its name. Pike is the C-like, interpreted OSS scripting language that powers Roxen, a web/app server that competes directly with Zope, as well as this Manila/Frontier thing. -- Alexander Staubo http://alex.mop.no/ "`This must be Thursday,' said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer, `I never could get the hang of Thursdays.'" --Douglas Adams, _The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy_ > -----Original Message----- > From: David Brown [mailto:davidbro@namshub.org] > Sent: Saturday, March 25, 2000 10:37 PM > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: [Zope] Zope and Pike > > > Now that a beta version of Pike has been released (see > http://www.scripting.com/ and http://pikebeta.userland.com/) > has anyone > given any thought to a Pike compatible interface to Zope? problem with zope version mgmt
by sathya 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

I am using 2.1.4. After saving my changes to a version I cannot see them until I got to the control panel as superuser and use version management to save the version. But the problem I see is that the superuser has to manage this rather than the individual developers themselves ?. What is the difference between saving individual versions and saving from the control panel ?. sathya -- ########################## necessity is the mother of invention ##########################

import or export counter intuitive ?
by sathya 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

ok so I am trying to export a folder using import/export I give an export id and click on export and I get an exception however if i give an import file name and click on export I get a filename.zexp in the var dir. Isn't this rather confusing. Do import and export have their own zopish meanings ? I am seeing really weird stuff in 2.1.4 cant wait to upgrade to 2.1.6 -- ########################## necessity is the mother of invention ##########################

Some basic questions concerning ZClasses
by Joachim Werner 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

I've just started to work with ZClasses. They are really cool. But I am running into some problems: I added a folder to my ZClass. Let's say the folder contains images. Using the images from the folder in my ZClass methods works fine. But like all other ZClass "internals" (methods etc.) the folder (correctly speaking: its instance; or is there no seperate instance of the folder???) is invisible to the management interface. Is it possible to make a folder visible in the management interface so that a user can enter additional images? Same with dtml methods/documents ... Is it true that the methods of a ZClass don't open a new property namespace for each instance? If I change the property of a method in one instance it seems to be globally changed. How can this be solved? Thanks in advance Joachim.

Management interface and DTML Methods vs Documents
by Dennis Nichols 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

While I still have the training wheels on, I've been trying to be careful to understand the difference between DTML Methods and DTML Documents. I thought I was doing OK until I noticed this about the management interface (when looking at a folder): There is a tab for Properties but none for Methods The tab for Contents contains Methods as well as Objects So either I don't really understand DTML Methods vs Documents, or the management interface should, to be consistent, also have a Methods tab instead of lumping methods under Contents. I'm not complaining, just trying to figure out the tricks so I can take the training wheels off. -- Dennis Nichols nichols(a)tradingconnections.com

manage_addLocalRoles
by Oliver Andrich 25 Mar '00

25 Mar '00

Hi, after I settled my problems with the Zope authentification system and dsicovered some nice tricks about Zope, with some help of some very gentle people of course, I have another problem. How can I allow a certain role to add local roles to an object? Which permission do I have to activate, that this is possible? At the moment I have solved the problem with a Manager proxy role, but I like to live without proxy roles. Bye, Oliver
