FSSession and external methods...
by Tony McDonald 21 Mar '00

21 Mar '00

Hi all, Anyone got any experience with FSSession and external methods (actually a PythonMethod). I want to get the data out of an FSSession object using this construct-type <argument>self</argument> FS = self.FSSession out = "" for k,v in FS.items(): out = out + "K:%s, V:%s<br>" % (k,v) return out and get this; Looking at FSSession.py, _v_data is there as part of the FSSession class; def items(self): return self._v_data.items() but it's not getting through to the method. Anyone got a fixe for this? I need to do some heavy processing with the contents of the FSSession object so I can't *really* use DTML. Re: [Zope] Lost Objects after System Crash (Zope 2.1.5 on Win32)

I have a couple of different Zope instances running on Linux and Windows, but that was the first data loss. It seemed to me as if the session had been running in "demo" mode so that changes would not be really persistent. As in Alexandre's case, I first thought I was dreaming because there was no hint of my data except for the log files. I suggest some further investigation into that. If Zope really lost things that easily, I'd consider not using ZODB for production sites ... BTW: In my case it also was a Windows system crash that caused the data loss. hi all, i've been looking at confera and zdiscussion as a possible forum solution. however, i'm also looking at other perl/php products. my Q: -anybody on the list have deployed confera/zdiscussion on a large site? -what will a lot of traffic do to Data.fs? will i have to pack often? -i'm looking at modifying zdiscussion to store to an RDBMS. anybody done that already? if so, mind sharing how you did it? -i'm not a python programmer. and i would like to implement filtering for certain words/malicious html tags. i see an external method here. any other solution? dtml maybe? :) i thank all for your help, pointers, docs. -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?

RE: problems with jcNTUserFolder

> Hello, > Thanks a lot for answering so quickly. I changed the getUsers > method and no > more Attribte Error occured. When I now try to connect to the folder > containing the NT User Folder, The Username (listed in the NT > User Folder) > and password is not accepted. have you given roles to the user??? to protect the folder, I suppose you have created a role 'ROLE', and said that anyone but those with the role 'ROLE' are able to view the folder. however, if the users in the NT User Folder are not given roles, there are two case: when you create a NT user folder, you have to choose whether default behavior when a user is not given roles is to acquire user settings from higher user folders or not. - if default behavior is to acquire settings, due to the very nature of user folders, NT User Folders says the user *does not* exists if no roles are defined, to allow higher user folders to handle the user. this is the default for a nt user folder created in a sub folder - if default behavior is not to acquire settings, NT User Folder always says 'yes' when the user is asked, but if no roles are defined, the user is assumed to have to anonymous role. this is the default for a nt user folder created at the top level if roles are created for a user, it always exists, what ever the default behavior is. back to your problem: if you choose not to acquire user roles, all users for which you didn't give roles are *anonymous*, so they have no rights on your protected folder. > I'm running Zope as a service. good > Is there any additional work to do when installing the NT User Folder? > Is it necessary to install the NT User Folder at the toplevel > Folder inside Zope? nope but be careful about the above point I really have to write a doc for NT User Folder!! anyone wants to send me some beer for the work to be done ? ;-) regards, jephte clain

Using ZopeEDIT with Notepad?
by Paul Browning 21 Mar '00

21 Mar '00

OK, so it's not my favourite editor but I thought I'd try Notepad with ZopeEDIT for the hell of it. Can anyone tell me what I should set EDITOR_CMD to? 'C:\WINNT\system32\notepad.exe' and 'C:\WINNT\system32\notepad.exe %s' don't do the job. (What's the %s for anyway?) TIA. ZODB Couldn't load state - help please
by Dr. Peer Griebel 21 Mar '00

21 Mar '00

Hello Zopers, I just joined these mailing lists. I have a boring problem I can't understand. I wrote this little program: import Persistence import ZODB import ZODB.Transaction import ZODB.FileStorage class dbclass(Persistence.Persistent): def __init__(self): self.thedata = 'testdata' def getdata( request=None ): name = 'somename' db = ZODB.DB(ZODB.FileStorage.FileStorage('myfile.fs')) connection = db.open() root = connection.root() if not root.has_key( name ): print "initialising" root[name] = dbclass() get_transaction().commit() r = root[name].thedata connection.close() return r This program works very well if it is started directly using the python interpreter. But if I call it from Zope using 'Try it' in the management console it works only one time. The second call of the function results in: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. get OUT args from ZOracleDA
by Chien-pin Wang 21 Mar '00

21 Mar '00

Hi, I have Zope 2.1.5 and Oracle 8.0.5 running on the same Linux box. ZOracleDA was installed successfully and bridged Zope and Oracle. I can call my stored procedure by creating Z SQL Method like: begin procName(arg1, arg2,...); end; But I cannot get return arguments (OUT args) no matter how the Z SQL Method is set. I have tried the interfaces mentioned in DCOracle documents, but failed. The only work-around I've found is creating extenal methods and import DCOracle via python. Is there any way to get the OUT arguments from Z SQL Method? Thanks a lot! Chien-pin

ZClasses and clone/delete methods
by John Morton 21 Mar '00

21 Mar '00

I need to know whether I can set up clone and delete methods in a Zclass that automatically get invoked any time someone deletes or copies an instance of that class from the management interface (via cut and paste or whatever). What I'm doing is creating a simple link class that just stores the key to a RDBMS row that contains all the details of the link (description, URL, clickthrus etc). The trouble is that when a link is deleted from Zope, it needs to touch the db record or that record will become orphaned - ideally the db record needs to keep a reference count of the number of link objects out their, and they need to increment or decrement that count as they get copied and deleted. So can this be done with a ZClass (if not, why not :-)) and if it can't, how can I do this with a Python Product (given that I've never written one!). TIA, John.
