Adding objects

Hi all, I've setup Zope and am attempting to add objects but keep getting this message: Server Error The server has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: IOError Error Value: Can't find a usable temporary directory amongst ['/usr/tmp', '/tmp', '/usr/zope/Zope-2.0.1-linux2-x86'] I'm sure it's a fairly simple problem. I've checked the directories which are all present and even tried changing permissions to user nobody but nothings made any difference. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Chris

ITP: m2crypto and ZServer-ssl

I'm planning to make Debian packages of m2crypto and ZServer-ssl. m2crypto is a Python interface to openssl. ZServer-ssl is, d'oh, a SSL version of Zope's ZServer. They all come as a single source package; there is more stuff in there, but I'll leave it in /usr/share/m2crypto/examples unless someone asks me otherwise. They're available at http://mars.post1.com/home/ngps/m2/ and soon http://www.hackandroll.org/members/ngps/ perhaps. I'm currently tailoring ZServer-ssl to work with Debian's zope directory layout, then I'll get to packaging. They're developed in... Korea, IIRC... by Ng Pheng Siong. I am in Brazil. user created folders and local owner role problem in 2.1.3

Silence was my part after an ealier effort, so I'll give it another try. I have a application for web supported learning, basically a platform where teachers and students can exchange information. It runs in zope 2.0.0. Users may create documents or folders by means of a dtml-method that wraps manage_clone. In version 2.0.0 the user automatically acquires a local role of owner in the context the folder or document involved. When I was upgrading to zope version 2.1.3 I noticed this automatisme did not apply anymore to folders, but only to documents: users are not given the local owner role in he context of a folder they create. Bug or feature? It is a problem, because what users ar permitted to do depends to a certain extent on ownership. Please help me out. tia, cb

The class term is defined as: class term: def __init__(self, id, title='', eqterms=[]): self.id = id self.title = title self.similar = eqterms def addmember(self, eqterms*): for term in eqterms: self.similar.append(term) where the addmember append the another term object to the similar list. where term objects is created in a folder called terms and searchable by catalog. How can a dtml to allow the selection from the folder or the search result to call addmember to add to a term the list of member terms?

Why does Zope insert a <BASE > tag?

Hi, I was wondering why Zope inserts a <BASE HREF="..."> tag into each page? Is there any way you can change what it inserts? The reason I ask it's currently putting in the wrong thing. Here's the situation: We have several sites on one Zope installation, set up as follows: zope.nipltd.com/project1 zope.nipltd.com/project2 zope.nipltd.com/project3 ...etc... These are also served up through Apache as follows: www.project1.com www.project2.com ...etc... Now in this second case, the base tag inserted is something like: <base href="http://www.project1.com/project1/"> which is wrong and is causing things to break... How can I go about correcting/removing this base tag? cheers, Chris

An adapter for DB2

Python is installed in /usr/local/Python-1.5.2 Zope is installed in /usr/local/zope/2-1-2/ I would like to get data on my browser from DB2(Database) trough this linux box. Is there an adapter for this database? Is the ODBC Adapter right for this situation? Thanks in advance for Your help

If you are viewing a page that has the property set to true acquisition says that the property is in the namespace. I don't want to have to set it to false on every other folder, just true on those not to display in the index. What happens is if you view a folder that has the property set then nothing at all is displayed because it's not set to false anywhere else and it's in the namespace stack as true! zope on shared disk

hi all, what's the pros and cons of loadin zope of a shared disk aka thru nfs or samba? this on a LAN with Giga ether or fast ether. reasons for this - so that we can share database and have many frontends serving request. is this even possible? has anybody tried eddie (www.eddieware.org)? i see this as an option too, but the database is still the limiting factor. i know zeo exists, but i'm a bit tight now. inputs/pointers/docs welcomed tia -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?

Determining Success or Failure status on SQL update in ZSQL Metho d d

Hello, A search of prior discussion threads shows this question occasionally appears without resolution. Perhaps someone has found an answer to it since then, so here it is... Using a ZSQL method, how do I detect if any rows have been affected when performing a SQL UPDATE. I do not need to know how many rows, just whether the statement affected 0 rows or more than 0 rows. My environment is Oracle (7 & 8) and with other programmatic interfaces to Oracle, one can capture a (non-error) return status that indicates if no rows were affected. This is supported in the ODBC API for Oracle and other databases as well. Is there a way to capture this return status even though it is not flagged as an error? No dtml-try since it's only a return code, not an error code As a workaround I've tried to do a select count, but to do this I need to 1) execute the select and update in the same transaction and 2) run the select before the update, store the value, then return it at the end (the update may or will change at least one of the fields referenced in the where clause, so I cannot run it after) So, inside of a SQL method, I can do #1, but cannot see a way to do #2. Is there a secret trick to this or is it a case of adding code to the existing DAs? Please please tell me it's the former. Thanks in advance, Ira
