Hey, guys. For what it's worth, I got a simple StructuredDocument ZClass to work, even when used as index_html. Here's how: I created a Python product called StructuredDocumentBase that included a class of the same name. This class is defined as follows: from OFS.DTMLDocument import DTMLDocument from StructuredText.StructuredText import html_with_references class StructuredDocumentBase: """Mix-in for StructuredDocument ZClass.""" def __call__(self, client = None, REQUEST = {}, RESPONSE = None, **kw): """Render the document given a client object, REQUEST mapping, response, and keyword arguments.""" header = apply(self.standard_html_header.__call__, (client, REQUEST), kw) body = html_with_references(apply(DTMLDocument.__call__, (self, client, REQUEST), kw)) footer = apply(self.standard_html_footer.__call__, (client, REQUEST), kw) return '%s%s%s' % (header, body, footer) Then, I created another product called StructuredDocument, this time through the web. In this product, I created a ZClass called StructuredDocument, which inherits first from StructuredDocumentBase and then from DTMLDocument. Then, I placed an instance in a folder, navigated to the URL, and it worked. I would package it up and upload it as a product, but a part of it is broken--I can't rename the instance. This has nothing to do (AFAICT) with the __call__ voodoo above, but seems to be due to my inheriting from DTMLDocument; I created a simple ZClass that did nothing except inherit from DTMLDocument and it exhibited the same behavior. Anyways, Tres (or anyone using Tres's product), if you want to take this idea and integrate it into your STX_Document class that'd be cool. If not, I'll make a more complete (and tested) implementation when I can find the time. Hope this helps, --Jeff --- Jeff K. The former will set all properties in a sheet, so that if you don't specify something, it gets cleared. Anthony, who's been bitten by this one too often.

NEWBIE: assignment in DTML

RAM session management

Hi, Has anyone done RAM session management? (storing session information in RAM.) I am thinking in implementing RAM session management. The picture I have is: (1) Implementing a mini TCP/IP server at a port in an internal server machine. Most likely I'll use Python. (2) The web server then talks to the session server via TCP/IP. manage_changeProperties doesn't for my zclass

Hi, I'm another newbie with a dumbass question. I've got a folder, listitems, which only contains objects of type mailitem. I'm cloning an instance of mailitem which lives outside the folder into it <dtml-with listitems> <dtml-with "manage_clone(mailitem,REQUEST['email'],REQUEST)"> So far so good. The new mailitem is created with email as the id. Then I want to set two more properties from REQUEST variables. <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties({ firstname : REQUEST['firstname'], lastname : REQUEST['lastname'] })"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> But even though it (presumably) executes without errors it just never works. I know I'm missing something really basic here. Any help would be appreciated. And yes I realize this is not a terribly good real-world solution but I'm trying to bring myself up to zope speed with a simple mailing list service. One other thing: It seems to me that the general case of populating an arbitrary number of object properties with REQUEST values could be served by a method which iterates over an object's properties to obtain their names and then gets their values from the REQUEST namespace, assuming that the property and the form variable names are exactly the same. I don't quite understand how to do that yet but if anyone cares to create some dtml to do that I am at the point where it would be really helpful. TIA Thayer

Object ID and Property confusion

Hi All I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet... If I have a bunch of objects of type 'myObj' in a folder, then I can do something like; <dtml-in "objectIds('myObj')> <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-in> ...to display a list of all the ids of my 'myObj' objects in the folder - so far, so good. Now, each of the 'myObj' instances has a property 'myProp', which I'm interested in. So I can do this; <dtml-in "objectValues('myObj')"> <dtml-var myProp><br> </dtml-in> ...to display a list of all the 'myProp' values of the 'myObj' objects. What I want to do is display a table where column one contains the id of the object, and column two contains the 'myProp' value. From a brief look at the source of "lib/python/OFS/ObjectManager.py" it looks as if the 'objectItems()' method might do something like what I want, but I haven't been able to get it to do what I want. Any ideas would be gratefully received! TIA David

STX_Document

I am having some trouble with using STX_Document with objects named index_html. I've worked out that index_html method is used by the ZClass when the STX_Document is viewed. For instance if I create a folder "test" and then add an STX_Document to the folder called "index_html", then point the browser to http://server/test/ I get : Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. sendmail tag/DTML problem

Hi, I have a property to a ZClass that defines the mailhost to be used for the instance. The property is called use_mailhost. Now I am working on a method that is to make use of this property, but I can't get it to work: <dtml-sendmail mailhost="_[use_mailhost]"> <dtml-sendmail mailhost="_.[use_mailhost]"> <dtml-sendmail mailhost="<dtml-var use_mailhost>"> <dtml-sendmail mailhost="<&dtml-use_mailhost;>"> all don't work. Now I am out of tries :-( I were favoring the first one why don't they all work??? where's the error? Jochen

Problem with Classes in Classes [Newbie]

Hello: I'm trying to create classes in classes as per the Zope Developers Guide- page 11 "Classes inside Classes." - I've created a product, and create a Zclass in it (subclass of Object Manager) - then in the method of that ZClass, I create some more Zclassses - In those ZClasses I set up some Properties and Views - There is a "Contents" View in my parent ZClass, with a manage_main in it. - I add views to the First Zclass of the child classes --- Then I go and create a new folder at the top level. In that folder I create an instance of my Zclass In that instance, when I attempt to add on of the subclasses, I get a Zope error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource.
