Log File TimeStamp Curiosity

Hello All, Question: The time stamp being generated/written to my Zope log file is five(5) hours ahead of the actual time on my machine. Is there something I can do about that? I just restarted Zope, but that did not help. I am currently running Zope 2.1.3 on RedHat 6.1 -Mark

Newbie dtml-var question (probably...)

Hi, I'd like to do something like: <dtml-var /images/logo> to include a logo and get the alt text from the object, etc, but it doesn't work. Any ideas? Also, and I've read a few threads about this but none really made sense to me, I work on sites at home and at work, with varying base URLS. 1. At home, URLs are something like localhost:8080/project/index.html 2. At work, they are something like zope.nipltd.com/project/index.html 3. And finally, the sites are often also presented as something like www.project.com. The problem is how to phrase URLs in hrefs. <A HREF="/index.html"> does not work for cases 1 and 2 as it goes to the root index.html on the server. however, it is the only way I can think to do links that work for case 3. This also applies to images if you reference them using <IMG> tags, which is how I'm currently dealing with the first problem (not nice, 'cos you have to maintain image size, alt text, etc by hand...) Any help greatfully recieved... Chris

extracting day-month-year from a pre-epoch DateTime instance?

I have pre-epoch DateTime instance dates that I want to render a la <dtml-var birthdate fmt="%d %a %Y"> Obviously this doesn't work so I'm toying with <dtml-let numdays="_.int(birthdate-_.DateTime('01/01/1901'))"> [...] </dtml-let> where I need to compute the integer year, month and day corresponding to numdays (since 01 jan 1901). Seeing that human history didn't begin in 1970, this has got to be a common enough problem that either (i) there's a trick such that birthdate.strftime() actually does work or (ii) I'm missing something obvious. I bet on the latter as there is seemingly no mention of this on eGroups or the python FAQ ... Cheers, Darran.

DTML-method id

Hello, If this code is in a DTML-method <dtml-var id> then the id of the folder will be returned. If it's in a DTML-document, the id of document is returned. How can I programmatically get the id of a DTML-method within in the same DTML-method? Sorry if this is obvious. Much thanks in advance. Eliot Scull

Is this a bug with multiple selection lists?

Hi all, I encountered some strange behaviour with multiple selection lists in the properties form. If I deselect all items and submit the properties I get the following error: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: string member test needs char left operand Is there a workaround for this? Tree tag and External Method

Hi, Its possible to work with the tree tag and an External Method? What I'm trying to do is with the External Method, go get some objects that are in the filesystem, and with the tree I will display the tree of that objects. But if I use this code: <dtml-in obj_fs> <dtml-tree branches_expr="objectValues(['Folder', 'External Method'])" assume_children=1> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-tree> </dtml-in> It will display the objects, but will repeat which on three times. Why? If I use: <dtml-tree branches_expr="objectValues(['Folder','External Method'])" assume_children=1> <dtml-in obj_fs> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> </dtml-tree> If will display the objects, but which one will be repeasted six times!!! Why? The code that I have in obj_fs is: def obj_fs(self): import os lst=os.listdir("/var/spool/news/articles/") return lst Can anyone explain me why is this doing that? Why isn't this working? Another question. I need to go get the subobjects that are in the objects that I referred before. I think that I will not be able to do this just with the tree tag, but if that is possible, how can I do that? The result must be something like the Windows Explorer, when I click on the plus sign, it will display the subfolders of the object that I clicked. Can anyone help me with this? Its urgent!!! Hi, How can I know which link call a DTML Method? I have three links that are redirected to a DTML method. That DTML method will display the information that is referenced to one of the links. For example, if link one is clicked, the DTML method will display some information about that link. If the link two is clicked, the same DTML method will display the information about link two. Hi all, Finally we're collecting data so that a project can get started... Seeing some data, I can get brainstorming on how to implement the portal. So, it's time to ask some general questions about how certain things should be handled. Brief introduction : 1000 'nds of information sheets need to be accessable through intranet. These sheets contain data in much of the same way. So we can define records and their fields. On top of these sheets several structured info rules are placed which help people to find the correct information sheet. (This is not a general search, because the search is fixed, ie. Problem1/Case1/SubCase2 will bring you to Sheet7) The view to these fixed search will also dependend on the person who is looking at the data. I'm thinking on following implementation ways. * Since the search is dependend on the person, I can best make use of the ZPTK? Is ZPTK already in stable release? Or is the ZPTK overkill? * The records will contain lots of data (several text-fields, other datafields, pictures, etc), so I'm thinking to make ZClasses for the data-sheets, instead of putting them in a SQL database. Is this a correct assumption? * The fixed-search are generally straight tables. A selection in one table will give another table etc, until only one possibility and thus results to the correct data-sheet. Since this is straight forward, I think to put these tables inside an SQL database. However is it possible to link SQL database to the ZODB in a good way (ie a selection in an SQL database is connected with an object in ZODB)? Is it perhaps also possible to create this sort of tables as ZClasses in the ZODB? All information is welcome! Regards, Tom.
