Could zope.org gain a jobs posting board, do you think? It could be done with a new object (jobPost) and an interface like the News or Products one for viewing. There seem to be a number of postings coming through, and it's increasing... thoughts? Anthony

Question on folders

I'm trying to figure out how to access SQL methods within folders. Here's the directory structure I have so far: dyoo queries sql_booklist (MySQL connection) sql_showTitles (SQL method) index_html I've independently tested sql_showTitles to make sure it works. Wanted: Python/Zope developers. Who are we? We're a small team within the world's largest web hosting organization (525,000 domains served). We see our mission as being a "city planning department" of sorts for the company. We plan for the growth of that community and develop the tools to make the community work through collaboration. Our flagship tool is a Python/ZPublisher based request-tracking system that currently serves about 20,000 requests per week. We use open source software heavily and like to contribute back to the community, as you've seen. We expect to do even more of this in the future. Not only will we pay you to think up neat new stuff and write it, but you can likely give it away. Our team is currently at 5 people, looking to grow to 6 or 7. Our team is headed by a developer, not a "PHB". Two of us are developers, the other three handle system administration, process consulting, training, etc. However, we all do a little bit of everything. We're looking for one strong developer, and one person with some mix of consultant/developer/admin capabilities. We strive to be a closely knit team and the nature of our work requires that we work in the same place most of the time, so relocation to the sunny Boca Raton, FL area is required. Poor you. :-) We provide Medical, Dental, 401k, bonuses and options, etc. EOE. The developer applicant should have significant Python and/or Zope experience. The following technical knowledge and skills would be beneficial (We don't expect anyone to know all or even half of this, but flexibility and willingness to learn new things, including things not on this list or which haven't been invented yet, is important. We work on a variety of projects, so adaptability and a certain jack-of-all-tradesness is a key quality): * Python * Zope * ZPublisher/Bobo (independent of Zope) * OO design skills * SQL * LDAP * XML-RPC, CORBA, or SOAP * Experience building web-based applications * HTML design * Knowledge of workflow automation principles * Threaded programming * GUI and visual design * System administration experience, especially Unix and Sybase. Knowledge of a variety of Unix-derived OSes is a plus. * Ability to write technical documentation * Javascript (especially in relation to DTML) * C (especially in relation to Python) The consultant/trainer/admin position should have have some technical skills plus strong networking skills (in the "with people" sense) and verbal and written communications skills, the ability to figure out requirements for systems (not only computer systems, but systems of people and procedures), figure out how people do, would, and should use them, explain them, document them, train people on them, figure out what works and what doesn't, and generally see the "big picture". Broken products after transferring Data.fs file

I have seen a number of threads that talk about products becoming broken in a Zope installation with no apparent cause. I had a similar experience the other day. I moved my Data.fs file, which included several third-party and custom made ZClass Products, from one server to another. After moving the file, many of the ZClass Products were broken on the new server. In order to fix this, I ended up also moving the complete contents of my lib/python/Products directory tree from the old server to the new one. This fixed everything. However, most of the products that were orginally broken did not depend on anything that was in the Products directory. Here is my best analysis of what might have happened: One of the Products I was using was based on the "Renderable" add-on product which is installed into the lib/python/Products directory. Initially, I did not have this product on the new server. What I think happended is that the abscence of this product caused several other unrelated products to appear broken, even though they did not use "Renderable." If anybody can confirm this through similar experiences, we can probably get the problem fixed in the code. While this is an annoying problem, I am still BLOWN AWAY by how good Zope is. What I didn't mention yet is that the old server was an Intel box running Linux and the new server is a Sparc box running Solaris. I am very impressed that my application and data moved from one platform to the other so seamlessly. It is really awesome that Zope and the ZODB files that it uses are so cross-platform friendly! I want to take data from a form and send it to a dtml method. this is dtml-doc-doc <form action="method1"> <input type = "checkbox" value="true"> <input type="text" name="string"> <input type="submit" value="submit"> what is my dtml method going to look like? I want to set parent folder property equal to string. and I want to build a new page based upon the values from radio buttons and check boxes. Or even submit a string to a query based on the form data. I have having trouble with the dtml method syntax. I am thinking <dtml-let-let property = string> </dtml-let-let-let> <dtml-call-call dbquery(string)> etc. So in method1 how do I set <dtml-var-var var1> = string from the form. also how do I set the parent folder property <dtml-var-var property> = string. thanks technology(a)mylinuxisp.com

Help: DTML lookup problem (subfolder specialization)

Hi, I want to have a logo at the top of each page, so what I've done is reference a "logo" method from my "header" method. Subfolders should be able to redefine a new "logo" method if they want to. This only works, though, as long as there's a dtml_index in the subfolder. If, though, the subfolder doesn't define one, and a parent's dtml_index is found, then the *parent's* "logo" is also used, not the one in the child folder. Is it possible to do what I want? Here's a hierarchy view: PARENT: logo index_html (Calls header which ref's logo) SUBFOLDER: logo ...This set up is not working for me. Is there some way to make it work? That is, when viewing the subfolder, it's logo would get found and used? Thanks, Robb

renaming large list of objects

have a bunhca files that dont have extensions.. I know their extensions should be .abc so I'm trying to append this to their names... with no success :( : all 'Files' needing to be renamed to original_id + '.abc' <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['File'])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('new_name', _.string.join(_ ['id'], '.abc') )"> <dtml-call "manage_renameObject(id, new_name ,REQUEST)"> </dtml-in> some problems I'm having is in the _.string.join ('original', '_name') suppose returns original_name but when I do the _['id'] it returns o r i g i n a l (many seperate objects) acks: my python skills are low Zope 2.1.4 install
