that link to worldpilot is a good old marketing plug ;) you could always grep the source code for that url string and replace it if you really want... jens -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Diller [mailto:dillera@isc.upenn.edu] Sent: Monday, February 07, 2000 4:58 PM To: Jens Vagelpohl Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: RE: [Zope] using WorldPilo Hi: thanks for answering. I'm forwarding this to the zope mailing list in hopes someone can lend a hand.... You may want to subscribe... see http://www.zope.org/Resources and look for the mailing list link... (the site's not doing so well right now, try in a maybe an hour or so :( ) Your globopolis site is pretty cool! herder(a)globopolis.com wrote: > > A new bug entry was added with the following information: > > Title: Generating a feedback form > > At: http://classic.zope.org:8080/Collector/Collector/1040/sview > > Submitter: Anne Cunningham > > Email: herder(a)globopolis.com > > Description: We are test driving zope by constructing our Globopolis intranet with it. One of the intranet's primary functions will be a bulletin board, and I have tried programming a mailto form three different ways using tutorials. It has yet to work. My most recent attempt involved creating a mail host and the feedback/sendfeedback documents. However, upon submission I get an SMTP error saying that the domain must be specified. I have checked with the tech guys here and maybe they're high on smack, but I believe the host and mail addresses are correct. I have just about given up on successfully implementing any forms using zope, please throw me an innertube.. -- Chris McDonough - Digital Creations, Inc. Publishers of Zope - http://www.zope.org

you don't "create" local users, all that info comes straight out of whatever imap server you connect to. if someone isn't known to that imap server you can't log in. about the pointing to www.worldpilot.org, did you read the (small) doc that comes with it that explains to change DOMAIN.py in the products directory? jens -----Original Message----- From: zope-admin(a)zope.org [mailto:zope-admin@zope.org]On Behalf Of Andrew Diller Sent: Monday, February 07, 2000 3:38 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] using WorldPilot Anyone using WorldPilot? http://demo.worldpilot.com:8080/site/ I've got it up and running on my Alpha server, but I can't see how to create any local users. Database connections
by Stephan Richter 07 Feb '00

07 Feb '00

Hello everyone, My client went live with a site today and we are having huge problems with the DB connections. Every one out of five times the request will time out. We are heavily using DB tables for our data storage. (We are using PostGres.) My client has read that other people experienced the same issue, since only 7 DB connections are allowed at a given time. She read that you can hack the python code somewhere. I am sure you guys know how to do this. If you could send me a set of instructions of how to fix it, that would be great. User Access Question
by James W. Howe 07 Feb '00

07 Feb '00

The web site that I'm working on is going to have an area which is only available to users who have registered with the site. Registration will require filling out some simple information and this information will be checked against a master database of allowed users. When a user connects to the site, only certain information will be visible until they login. What sort of tools and techniques can I use with Zope to help simplify this task? For example, how does Zope.org manage it's user base? Are there particular samples/products I should be looking at? Any tips or pointers on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks James W. Zope & FTP problems.
by Ray's Mailing Lists 07 Feb '00

07 Feb '00

I hvae a Zope server set up and am having problems ftping in as a user other than the superuser. Simple example: I set up a directory called "Test" as superuser and added the user "rayvd" to the acl_users folder and gave this user Owner and Manager permissions as well as adding * to the hostmask. (I also tried without a host mask defined). I can ftp in as "rayvd" and it will accept my password, but when i try and get a file listing or change directories it gives me a 530 Unauthorized error. Any idea what's going on? ftp> open moonbase.wwc 8021 Connected to cs-sa1.wwc. 220 moonbase FTP server (Medusa Async V1.8 [experimental]) ready. User (cs-sa1.wwc:(none)): rayvd 331 Password required. Password: 230 Login successful. ftp> dir 200 PORT command successful. 530 Unauthorized. ftp> cd / 530 Unauthorized. ftp> cd /Test 530 Unauthorized. ftp> Thanks. Ray Van Dolson

What is the Zope front end written in?
by danny shevitz 07 Feb '00

07 Feb '00

As a followup to my question on newbie technology. The Zope front end has two elements that I'd like to use: 1) The splitter bar 2) The "delete" button which dynamically appears. Being a newbie, I don't know how to implement these. Are these straight HTML/DTML or is Java or something else required? thanks, Danny __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! DTMLMethod Question
by James W. Howe 07 Feb '00

07 Feb '00

I've got a folder which contains DTMLMethods which are used to format a "news" article in a certain way. One of the methods is responsible for actually displaying the article contents, the others are responsible for generating various navigational components. I'm now designing a new view which is also going to display a news article, plus some other stuff. The major difference is that this view is only going to show a subset of information. I would like to reuse the article display code but I'm not exactly sure how to do it. What I would like to do is retrieve the first N characters from a news article and then have my method format it. Something like: <dtml-var "formattingMethod(???, <dtml-var articleContent size=500>)"> I'm not fluent enough in all the nuances of how you call a DTMLMethod rather than get results via reference/acquisition. I suppose I could pass the length restriction as a parameter and if that parameter didn't exist the full article would be retrieved. I would rather simply pass the article contents and let the method format what it is given. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. James W. Howe mailto:jwh@allencreek.com Allen Creek Software, Inc. pgpkey: http://ic.net/~jwh/pgpkey.html Ann Arbor, MI 48103
