Rename BUG

Hi, I am responding to my own post, and am submitting a bit extra information and some strange behaviors. Johnathon wrote me back and suggested I export the catalog, delete it, rename the ids, and then reimport the catalog. I did that, but still the same error appeared. Now, I downloaded data.fs onto my local Zope and on my local Zope I am able to rename. (which is just weird) ..why can't I do this on the live server? I guess I could then reupload data.fs, but I'd prefer not to do that since the site would be down for some time then. Any ideas at all on this one would be very much appreciated. Thanks, T Original Post Below ------------------------ Dear Zope Folks, I have a ZCLASS named article. When creating an 'article', an external method is called which translated the id value so as to avoid any character which Zope does not like For example, if I input: "http://www.zope.org/helpmeplease.html" as the article id, the constructor translates this into: http%3a%2f%2fwww.zope.org%2fhelpmeplease.htm I have already created a few dozen of these articles and now realize that it is a very bad idea to namethings this way. Renaming these is normally not a problem. Now I also have a 'Catalog' which keeps track of all these new articles. I cleared the catalog, find all again within the catalog, and now try to rename and I get the following error message: Error Type: ValueError Error Value: Uncatalog of absent id '51go/Games/Bible/http%253a%252f%252fbob.com' It looks like the internal id is different from the external id that Zope presents me... ie it ran the script twice and decoded the url twice. I don't care anymore about that script and just want to rename these objects. Its strange... I can update and change the objects properties, but cannot change the article's name. Has anyone else seen this error message before? Any help or ideas on how to get around this error message would be very much appreciated. Tom

I've written another design document regarding a new technique I've been using to develop ZClasses... It's somewhat related to the discussion you've been having on the Zope-PTK list but its a little bit off-tangent from your discussion. I've focused on a "related" problem of integrating lists of heterogenous objects returned by searchable functions and being able to customize their rendering while at the same time not being tightly coupled to these objects returned... Zope FTP access through HomeSite broken?

I like to use Allaire HomeSite v4.0.1 to edit DTML documents and methods in Zope. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, HomeSite provides virtually transparent FTP-based file editing. That is, HomeSite automates the process of downloading a file before editing it and uploading it after editing. At least since Zope 2.1.2, I have been unable to use HomeSite with Zope. HomeSite reports that my login information is incorrect, yet access through a standard FTP client is seamless. Also, I know for a fact that HomeSite has no such problems with earlier versions of Zope. Has anyone experienced this same problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks, Ben

This update contains fixes for a race condition that could cause Zope to hang on very high-traffic sites, two database packing bugs, and a bug that caused Zope to sometimes hang instead of shutting down when the shutdown function was accessed over a very fast network. dtml: got variable name as string, how to get to variable?

hello, i am writing a sql method that goes like this: select * from packages where <dtml-if package> package ~* <dtml-sqlvar package type=string> and </dtml-if> <dtml-if priority> priority ~* <dtml-sqlvar priority type=string> and </dtml-if> <dtml-if section> section ~* <dtml-sqlvar section type=string> and </dtml-if> [...] 1 = 1; etc. this is a bit repetitive. so i thought i'd save a bit of typing (well, actually i had a python snippet generate the above) and created a property (type "tokens", looks like a list of strings) listing the field names in the database and thought i'd do something like <dtml-in fieldnames> <dtml-if ???> <dtml-var sequence-item> ~* <dtml-sqlvar ??? type=string> and </dtml-if> </dtml-in> 1 = 1; so in sequence-item i have the name of the variable i want, as a string. the question is: what do i put in ???, or, how do i get to the value of that variable? also, if there is an easier, entirely different way of doing this, suggestions are welcome :) -- erno PS. please cc: me if you reply.
