Bummer. > >A mailhost and acquisition would (I think) do what you require. However, >the title of this thread leads me to believe this won't work with your >particular setup (Exchange). Boo. Well, the way I got around it was to define a method called mail_sender; <dtml-sendmail smtphost="my.smtp.host"> To: <dtml-var mail_to> From: <dtml-var mail_from> Subject: <dtml-var mail_subject> <dtml-var mail_text> </dtml-sendmail> ...and then call it as follows; <dtml-with "_.namespace(mail_to='david(a)connmed.co.uk', mail_from='Zaphod X. Beeblebrox <zaphod(a)hhgttg.com>', mail_subject='Another Test', mail_text='you\'re a hoopy frood who really knows where his towel is.')"> <dtml-var mail_sender> </dtml-with> ...which seems to work OK. Bit clunky though. Thanks for taking the time to look into this for me -- much appreciated. Cheers David

This is OCI's syntax. I suppose DCOracle accepts this syntax. You may use literals instead of :a or :b if they are IN arguments. NM > >

RE: [Zope] Brainstorm: Zope behind proxying cache?

> -----Original Message----- > From: Paul Everitt [mailto:paul@digicool.com] > > I _think_ that Squid has a protocol like this to allow caches to send > messages to each other. Also squid has an http accellerator mode. This is where squid answers port 80 and returns either a cache response or transparently tunnels the request onto a webserver. it works quite well. It could probably sop up quite a percentage of zope.orgs static content. Squid also obeys, better than anything else, headers from the web server. something very similar could be achieved by hooking into zhttp_server. -Michel

Another SybaseDA Problem
by Sascha Matzke 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

Hello, I'm using the SybaseDAv2 in my development environment (Sybase is version 11.9.2). Whenever I restart Zope a couple of times all connections get lost and even closing/open them again doesn't help. I have to restart both Sybase and Zope in order to get it working again. When I use isql after the connections got lost the following error appears: CT-LIBRARY error: ct_connect(): network packet layer: internal net library error: Net-Lib protocol driver call to connect two endpoints failed Any suggestions ?? Very important for CatalogWare zopists
by Jason Spisak 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

Zopists, I have submitted this to the Collector and it is major for people who have items in their ZODB that are Catalog aware. To create the bug follow these steps: 1.Create a Catalog Aware ZClass 2.Create an instance of that class 3.Make sure it is indexed by looking in the Catalog "Catolaged items" tab 4.Notice that there is *no* slash in front of the indexed url: "MyFolder/myobject" 5.Now clear the Catalog 6.Go to the "Find Items to Catalog" 7.Select just your New ZClass meta type so it is quick 8.Click "Find" 9.Make sure it is indexed by looking in the Catalog "Catolaged items" tab 10. Oh no! It has a different url. A leading slash! "/MyFolder/myobject" 11. Click on the link. It's broken! What this means is that if you have a lot of items in you Catalog don't ever ever ever use the "Find" machinery until Digital fixes this(It worked in 2.0.0 Final). You will end up not being able to edit/reindex your objects, and the links in your applications may not function. I am looking for how "Find" and index_object in createInObjectManager are different. No luck yet. All my best, -- Jason Spisak webmaster(a)hiretechs.com

RE: [Zope] Re: Anyone using Zope Mail Host with MS Exchange ? (ch as)
by David Salgado 14 Jan '00

Cool - using smtphost even works with exchange. i.e. <dtml-sendmail smtphost="my.smtp.host"> To: david(a)connmed.co.uk From: My Zope Server Subject: Test using MS Exchange Server Here is some text </dtml-sendmail> ...works fine. Anyone know how I can have an acquired property or method which holds the name of the SMTP host. i.e. so that I can have a property or method called my_smtphost, and use something like the following (I've tried all of these formats, and none of them works); <dtml-sendmail smtphost="my_smtphost"> or <dtml-sendmail smtphost=my_smtphost> or <dtml-sendmail smtphost=_['my_smtphost']> or <dtml-sendmail smtphost=_[my_smtphost]> All the above give a 'host not found' error, but I'm certain the property is being acquired properly, because I can put a <dtml-var my_smtphost> tag in a working version of the page, and it correctly fills in the address of my exchange server. I know I can encapsulate everything using a 'sending' DTML method, and acquire that, but I'd just like to know what I'm doing wrong. Cheers David

Oracle or PostGreSQL connection pool
by Nemeth Miklos 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

Do the Oracle or PostgreSQL database adapters and the ZSQL technology support connection pooling? If I create a connection object, supposedly it may only be used by a single thread. I'd like to use ZSQL methods but my application should be very concurrent. Miklos Nemeth
