Structured Text
by Gregor 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

Is there a way to escape structured text? I have a paragraph -- one that has an aside like this one, mind you -- and I don't want it to be turned into a <dl></dl> structure. I don't see any obvious way to avoid this, short of editing the source or avoiding the -- thing completely (which is annoying, and not entirely under my control). Anyone know how? - Gregor vorlon#iglou.com http://anime.at/gregordyne http://www.skysys.org/~gregor Anime, Amber, 3d, Mage, Eidolon, Miscellany

user not authenticating
by Timothy Wilson 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

Hi everyone, I've got a system whereby a person has to have a username and password to submit a news item. Later, when that person is viewing the homepage, any news items that they've submitted are supposed to display an "edit" button that they can use to, you guessed it, edit the item. This works perfectly for me as manager. The weird thing is that when I go the the submission page, I get challenged for a password, I put in the name and password of one of the non-Manager users, type the article, publish it, but no cool "Edit" button. I put a <dtml-var AUTHENTICATED_USER> tag in the article body to try to see who Zope thinks I am and found that AUTHENTICATED_USER is still Anonymous even when I've successfully entered a password to submit the article. Am I making sense? (It's getting late.) So it seems I'm authenticating enough to submit an article but AUTHENTICATED_USER isn't being changed. What am I missing? -Tim -- Timothy Wilson | "The faster you | Check out: Henry Sibley H.S. | go, the shorter | http://slashdot.org/ W. Sybase error: Products.SybaseDAv2.db.Error: ct_command():
by Hung Jung Lu 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

Hi, I am getting a Sybase error while trying to query select * from myTable The error message is: "Error, Products.SybaseDAv2.db.Error: ct_command(): user api layer: external error: This routine cannot be called while results are pending for a command that has been sent to the server." I can use isql to see the table without problem. This table does contain a few constraint foreign keys, some of them were set to null. Could this be the problem? Or does the error have something to do with transactions? I have tried to restart Zope and Sybase, but the error persists. If, as the error message states, another command has been sent, how can I terminate that command? thanks in advance, Hung Jung ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Further info about ZopeTime() not returning correct values
by Bill Anderson 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

OK, after trying some other things out, I have some updated information. <dtml-var "ZopeTime()"> OR <dtml-with ZopeTime> <dtml-var fCommonZ> </dtml-with> Returns the correct information. However, on the same page <dtml-var "ZopeTime()" fmt="%b %d %Y %I:%M:%S%p"> Returns time-5hours. Further investigation has revealed that when it is 5 hours behind, it indicates a timezone of "MST", yet when the correct time is show, it shows "US/Mountain". While it appears i can get a workaround to the correct date, something still seems amiss here... -- Bill Anderson Linux/Unix Administrator, Security Analyst ESBU (ARC) bill_anderson(a)boi.hp.com My opinions are just that; _my_ opinions.

Is it possible to serve video content with Zope? Apart from RealNetwork and Microsoft is there any (preferrably multiplatform) solution for providing video over the Internet? Miklos Nemeth
