Further info about ZopeTime() not returning correct values
by Alexandre Ratti 14 Jan '00

Hello Bill, Try this: <dtml-with ZopeTime> <dtml-var "'%s/%s/%i - %s' % (dd(), mm(), year(), TimeMinutes())"> </dtml-with> If this code returns the correct time, see this document: <http://www.zope.org/Members/AlexR/CustomDateFormats> C-style time formats such as %b are GMT-based. This may be the problem, though I'm not sure. Re: [Zope] Brainstorm: Zope behind proxying cache?
by Jonathan 14 Jan '00

>The problem is: what is a page? Maybe I should have used 'object' instead, because in such a setup everything involved would be cached, including graphics, animations, audio, video etc. From one or more dynamic sources; Zope could be one of them. >For instance, if you got to http://www.zope.org/, you'll get a different >page than me. Why? Because my page is personalized. However, the HTTP >header Etags could help by giving each version of a page a unique id. >The win these days is in smarter caching which is more finely-grained >than at the page level. I agree. What I would be interested in achieving is a 'layered' caching structure, where a webpage can be assembled from multiple sources, each with it's own 'lifespan'. The graphics stay in the cache, the content changes until it is archived and stays more or less the same over long periods of time It allows me to use a distributed, load balancing network of data sources with a certain amount of redundancy and just the level of 'on the fly' I want. I am a long time Frontier 5 user, so I am very accustomed to easy ways to manage code, templates and content in an ODB and just render the final page whenever necessary. >I _think_ that Squid has a protocol like this to allow caches to send >messages to each other. Interesting. I'll dig a little deeper... Cya Jonathan -- UR Communications - Solutions for a wired world Who, what & where @ http://www.ur.nl/

>>> Chris McDonough wrote > Hung, > > This is strange stuff. Have you checked the Sybase transaction log > lately? When it gets full, Zope doesn't like that too much. More generally, whenever Sybase/MSSQL fails in some unexpected way (a system error, or whatever), it makes Zope sad. And a sad Zope is a Zope that can't talk to the database without either a restart, or going to the manage screen for the DB connection and closing it and then re-opening it. Hi Scott, You may want to take a look at this document: <http://www.zope.org/Members/AlexR/KeywordIndexes>. It's about keyword indexes and ZCatalogs. HTH. RE: [Zope] Is there a <dtml-comma> for SQL UPDATEs?

I'm trying to use a property which defines a list of fields, and then my editing/listing interface can be generic for a whole bunch of record types, acquiring the list of fields to decide what to display/update. Actually, I guess my question boils down to 'how do I remove a trailing comma from a string in a ZSQL method?' -- any ideas? Cheers David

As always, Kudos to Olivier Andrich! Suggestion: I am running SuSE Linux 6.3, and over the years have had occasional difficulty with the Redhat RPM's. That seems to be getting better as the glibc2 conversions and hints at file structure standardization are progressing. Still, it would be nice to have a site which provided all formats. Suggestion: How about something like the ability to "personalize" the Zope site allowing visitors to select the objects they want to "track". Looking forward to the site. It's exciting addition to the Zope world. Sybase and locale!
by Hung Jung Lu 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

Hi, I just saw another message in the Python eGroup list regarding Sybase installation problem with the locale. I had the same problem while dealing with Sybase on Zope. So I guess I'd post my own message again here, together with the other person's message. In short, when installing Sybase on Linux machines, MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE RIGHT LOCALE INFO IN YOUR locales.dat FILE. I guess in the Zope Sybase README.txt file (both on-line and in the distribution) http://www.zope.org/Products/DA/SybaseDA/README.txt it would be a good idea to add a line of comment regarding the locale. (As simple as asking the user to double check the locale environment variable LC_ALL, and make sure that his/her locales.dat file includes the right locale name for his/her machine platform.) (A side comment: Dave Cole just release a new Python Sybase module, and his version is 0.4 http://www.egroups.com/group/python-list/75697.html? http://www.itga.com.au/~djc/sybase.html I don't know whether there is a duplication of effort here. But it would be good if Digicool and Dave could coordinate a bit. As I am having some glitches using Sybase from Zope, I may attempt to access Sybase directly from Python.) thanks, Hung Jung (Just a newbie trying to help) -------------------------------------------------------------- "hung jung lu" <hungjungl-(a)hotmail.com> wrote: original article:http://www.egroups.com/group/zope/?start=20839 > >Thanks to Chris McDonough for the help. >My SybaseDAv2 is running, now! :) > >Before getting it to work, besides the shared >library problem (/etc/ld.so.conf and ldconfig) >I also ran into another problem. Is there a <dtml-comma> for SQL UPDATEs?
by Guy Davis 14 Jan '00

14 Jan '00

I now have all my insert and select queries working, but am having trouble with an UPDATE. For the query: UPDATE users SET <dtml-sqlgroup> <dtml-sqltest login type=nb optional> <dtml-sqltest email type=nb optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> WHERE <dtml-sqltest userid type=int> This works perfectly except when both login and email are provided because the query becomes: UPDATE users SET login='a_login' email='an_email' WHERE id=1 Without the comma between the login and email, it doesn't work. I loved the <dtml-and> and <dtml-or> tags for SELECT statements. I tried a <dtml-comma> but no such luck. Does this exist or do I need to use separate UPDATE statements for each column, each wrapped in a <dtml-if>? Thanks. -- Guy Davis mailto:davis@arc.ab.ca (403) 210-5334 Alberta Research Council
