In a Python Product, the Product class declares a class member, manage_options, which is a tuple of dictionaries, each describing a tab. Question re manage_users
by Chandran S 02 Jan '00

02 Jan '00

Hi, I'm calling this method after setting the folwloing attributes in the REQUEST var. and then calling the manage_users method. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('name',summary['user_name'])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('password',summary['password'])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('confirm',summary['password'])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('roles', 'Manager')"> <dtml-call "acl_users.manage_users('Add', REQUEST, RESPONSE)"> It creates the account but gives me the following error when I try to manage the account: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: TypeError Error Value: string member test needs char left operand. Does any one have any idea what I'm doing wrong? If I remove the role setting and then call the manage_users method, the account is created but it does not have the managers role. Thanks for any info.. Zopists, How do the management tabs call to see if a method should get a tab? I've been trying to find out how to call that. Does anyone know where it is in the source? All my best, -- Jason Spisak webmaster(a)hiretechs.com

SQL input form
by Timothy Wilson 02 Jan '00

02 Jan '00

Hi everyone, I've got Ross's PostgreSQL DA installed and working. Now I'm working on creating a form so I can insert records into the database through the Web. The ZSQL method tests out perfectly, I just need a form. The Z Search Interface wizard works great for generating forms to retrieve data, I just wish there was one to generate forms for putting data in. I thought I could cheat by looking at the HTML for the SQL test form. Here's what I get in the <form> portion (qry_insert_alum is my ZSQL method): <form action="http://www.mysite.foo/qry_insert_alum/manage_test" method="get"> I doubt that 'manage_test' is really the action that I want. What should be there? -Tim -- Timothy Wilson | "The faster you | Check out: Henry Sibley H.S. | go, the shorter | http://slashdot.org/ W. In this case you will be able to access Zope via Apache, and you do not have to use port 8080. NM

RetrieveSubCategoriesForCategory may send a HTTP, XML-RPC request to your Zope server, the result set are to be shown in your SubCategories combobox. You may do this either in a Java Applet (perhaps even simpler). > > Thank you very much for your help but I need your help to use this > wonderful environment as Zope is! > Zope is really wonderful! Problems of using Navigator products
by cfkwok_hknet 01 Jan '00

01 Jan '00

Hi, I am trying to use the Navigator product in a Zope server. I use the navigator_demo/simple_demo as a starting point. However, when I add a NavItem under the navbar, it seems that renderItem can not detect the new added items and nothing changed in the navigator bar. What is the right procedure to add a NavItem? Thanks! C.F.Kwok

NOTICE: ZopeEdu Status
by RonGines＠connexusinc.com 01 Jan '00

Several people have been wondering what happened to the ZopeEdu mail list. >From the pieces that I have gathered, the server hosting the list appears to have lost its SMTP port. The admin is on vacation and the physical server is hundreds (and in some cases thousands) of kilometers away from any of the rest of us. So those of us that have been communicating via private E-Mail have decided to ride out the Y2K storm (this outage is no doubt due to a Y2K bug <smirk-giggle-gag>>. Actually, we have figured that not much is going to get done this weekend and are waiting until early next week to get things up and running again. If for some reason the list can not be brought back up on its existing site, we also have a backup plan. When things are back in order, we'll let you know right here. Thanks for your interest and participation in ZopeEdu.
