Python Products

Is there any way to get Zope to reread a Python product's files without restarting? I'm developing using a cycle like this: * change .py file in lib/python/Products/* * save changes * restart Zope (takes 10 seconds :-() Is there a better way? -- Stephen Pitts smpitts(a)midsouth.rr.com webmaster - http://www.mschess.org

from your traceback: ... File "/usr/src/Zope-2.1.1-src/inst/do.py", line 104, in do if i and picky: raise SystemError, i SystemError: 512 ... I had this error myself when I tried to compile Zope with PCGI. My solution was to get myself the python-devel rpms. (with Redhat 6.0). So, if you are working under Linux, you might give it a try... I'm not quite sure what you mean. __ac_permissions__ lists methods, but what does that have to do with it? Could you please attempt to describe again what you're trying to accomplish? Node.py is the most interesting file if you want to study XMLDocument's DOM implementation, together with lib/python/OFS/ZDOM.py Regards, Martijn

Failed to connect with ODBC Sybase System 10/12 driver
by Luyuan Liu 21 Dec '99

Hello, I have an Excel file to get DB records through ODBC Sybase System 10/12 driver. If I run the file within VB editor of Excel, it is working. However, if loaded into Internet Explorer by ASP, and click the file name on IE, it can not work( always failed to connect to ODBC). Could you like to tell me what is happened? Many thanks..... NTUserFolder requires win32ext - how do I link to that?
by Geoff Gardiner 21 Dec '99

I have read the advice about using the inbuilt copy of Python when installing Zope, and confirmed for myself that I don't see how to get Zope to use an existing installed version of Python. But I am trying NTUserFolder which relies on win32 extensions. I have installed NTUserFolder and confirmed that it too doesn't run with the default installation (<Error Type: KeyError; Error Value: PARENT_URL>, when adding a new user; details below - I assume that lack of win32ext is the problem but could very easily be wrong). I would like to know either - how to get win32extensions visible to the Zope copy of python, or - how to get Zope to look at my 'win32all' python installation (which I would ensure to be the latest version of python). As always, thank you for any pointers to a solution. Is there an integrate solution ? Should I > program something by myself ? If all is well, if you change an XMLDocument by using the DOM, the XML representation changes along with it automatically. This is because the XML representation is actually only generated by XMLDocument; the data is actually stored as a tree (in the object database). Hi, If property pDate is of type Date, then why does this gives an error? <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Date', ZopeTime())"> Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: Invalid Date-Time String Error Value: and what is then the good code? And, why are the python methods, eg DateTime not recognised? Regards, Tom.

I think you could write (in VC++) an IIS "filter" which would (in a similar fashion to the Netscape Enterprise Server plugin) 'hijack' the request and stuff the REMOTE_USER into it. --Rob
