Read the DTML Reference (search for expressions or the "expr" tag). It's at http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Guides/DTML-HTML/DTML.html Here's an example: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('var1',0)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('var2',1)"> <dtml if "var1 != var2"> <dtml-var var1> is not equal to <dtml-var var2> </dtml-if> Setting variables for use in DTML in the REQUEST namespace is a convention. You can compare almost any two objects this way, though (such as the field result of a SQL method to the title_or_id of a Zope object). Note that writing <dmtl-call "REQUEST.set('var1',0)"> is equivalent to <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('var1',0)">. The former is shorthand for the latter. FYI: Register now for the Zope Track at IPC8!
by Paul Everitt 04 Dec '99

Hello friends. Many of you expressed an interest in the Zope Track: http://www.digicool.com/News/ZopeTrack at January's Python Conference: http://www.python.org/workshops/2000-01/ Guess what! It's time to _register_! http://www.python.org/workshops/2000-01/registration.html Make sure you choose "2. Zope track" for the question "If attending the Conference, please choose which track you prefer to follow:". If you wait too long, there's an extra $75 tacked on. So don't delay! I'd hate for the inquisition to get involved... --Paul Paul Everitt Digital Creations paul(a)digicool.com 540.371.6909 ----------------------------------------- The Open Source Zope application server http://www.zope.org/

zope class structure
by Lauri Posti 04 Dec '99

04 Dec '99

Hi! Has anyone tried to generate Zope class structure documentation with pythondoc or similar tool? I tried to use pythondoc 0.4 without any success. It would be mutch easyer to learn Zope API programming with that kind of docs comapred to reading python source. Currently afaik only ZODB docs are available (as UML). Rename non-funtional
by Bill Anderson 04 Dec '99

04 Dec '99

Uhhhhmmmm ... after repeated trys (closing browser, sevrer restart, etc) I am unable to rename _anything_. It returns the page telling me to select something first, and yes, I did select stuff. 2.1.0 is the only change I've made ... Getting properties in Python Methods
by Harry Henry Gebel 04 Dec '99

04 Dec '99

Hello, If I have a Python Method in a folder, and the Python Method has a list of strings which are the names of objects in that folder of the type Profile (a ZClass), and I know that each of these objects has a property called profile_name, how do I get the value for that property for each object in the list? Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Harry Henry Gebel ICQ# 43675297 West Dover Hundred, Delaware John McCain for President in 2000 http://www.mccain2000.com

RE: [Zope] Different instances of Zope
by Chris McDonough 04 Dec '99

David, It's certainly possible to run more than one instance of Zope on a single machine. The easiest way to do this may to be to use the source Zope release and to untar it into a totally separate directory from your existing Zope install. Compile it then edit the z2.py script and change the HTTP_PORT, FTP_PORT, and MONITOR_PORT fields. This is assuming you just want to use ZServer and don't care to use PCGI or FastCGI with another webserver. > -----Original Message----- > From: David S. RE: [Zope] standard_html_header difficulties

Instead of using a DTML Method for index_html, use a DTML Document (which has properties of its own).
