Has anyone built DCOracle against Oracle8i (8.1.5) on Linux? As to be expected, there are library problems. gcc -shared oci_.o -L/ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/lib/ -L/ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/rdbms/lib /ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/rdbms/lib/defopt.o /ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/lib/sscoreed.o /ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/lib/nautab.o /ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/lib/naeet.o /ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/lib/naect.o /ora_01/app/oracle/product/8.1.5.0.0/lib/naedhs.o -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lncr -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lclient -lvsn -lcommon -lgeneric -lmm -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lncr -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lclient -lvsn -lcommon -lgeneric -lepc -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lclient -lvsn -lcommon -lgeneric -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lsocket -lnsl -lgen -ldl -lelf -laio -lposix4 -lsql -lm -lm -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lncr -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lclient -lvsn -lcommon -lgeneric -lmm -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lncr -lnetv2 -lnttcp -lnetwork -lclient -lvsn -lcommon -lgeneric -lepc -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lclient -lvsn -lcommon -lgeneric -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lcore4 -lnlsrtl3 -lsocket -lnsl -lgen -ldl -lelf -laio -lposix4 -lsql -lm -lm -o oci_.so /usr/bin/ld: cannot open -lnetv2: No such file or directory collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [oci_.so] Error 1 TIA. -Mark

I have the same trouble trying to install the XMLDocument product. My guess is that somebody upgraded to a glibc2.1 system (e.g., RH 6.0) and built the Linux binaries (the .so files) there. What is especially irritating is that the undefined symbol, __bzero(), is an ancient and deprecated BSDism -- I remember wondering, "why didn't they use memset()" when I first ran across bzero() years back (of course, BSD didn't HAVE memset() when they published their TCP stack c. 1984, but that is another story). Can someone at DC please suggest a workaround? I don't see any use of bzero() in the XMLDocument source, for instance, so perhaps I just need to rebuild from source? [warning: newbie] o I would like to see all the objects in the `_' namespace how can I do that? o In general, if I have an object can I loop though it's elements like `for i in obj: print i' or someting? o Is there a `dump()' function to display an object as-is? Hi Sam, Take a look at this doc: <http://www.zope.org/Members/gtk/containers/> It's about the "Resource not found" error. HTH. Re: Add Property to DTML Documents
by Alexandre Ratti 03 Dec '99

Hi Steve, this works on my box: <dtml-call "manage_addProperty('myDate', ZopeTime(), 'date')">. Maybe the problem is that you're passing a string instead of a date value. You can try using DateTime() to convert your date string to a date object. Eg.: <dtml-call "manage_addProperty('myDate', _.DateTime('1999/12/03'), 'date')"> HTH. Zope with Mozilla?
by Doug McNaught 03 Dec '99

03 Dec '99

If any of you Zopistas are using Mozilla (I just snarfed M11 for Linux a couple of days ago) have you been able to get the management interface to work? When I go to http://mysite/manage, I get prompted for basic auth as per usual. Then the right pane comes up with the rendered view of the site's root directory (instead of the folder contents list with the management form) and I have to enter the auth info *again* before the left frame (folder tree) comes up normally. If I then click on a subfolder in the tree, I again get a rendered view of that subfolder, and have to enter the auth info yet again before the tree frame gets redrawn. Mozilla is obviously doing something wrong with cookies or basic auth or both. Anybody else run into this and fix it, or submit a bug report? Can anyone explain how the frames in the management interface interact? I'd like to submit a good bug report to the Mozilla folks. TIA... -Doug -- Doug McNaught doug(a)mcnaught.org http://www.mcnaught.org/~doug

DTML Access to vars in products
by JB 03 Dec '99

03 Dec '99

I've taken on my first product and it's now 5 a.m. It's gone pretty well but I seem to have put myself in a bit of a corner. The product has access to the var 'manage_tabs' in dtml if I set it up like so... manage_main = HTMLFile( 'index', globals()) index.dtml looks something like so... <html><head></head> <body> <dtml-var manage_tabs> ---[cut]--- </body> </html> and this works fine, however if I access like so... def index_html( self ): doc = HTMLFile( 'Products/MyMess/index' ) return doc( self, self ) then the var 'manage_tabs' is not accessable and I can't figure out how to get at it. It seems obvious that it has something to do with the globals() vs. self scoping. How can I make the var available using the latter def'd method? thanks jb -- You can only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

newbie: only 1 thread! where's the other 3 gone?
by Maarten Slaets 03 Dec '99

hi, I've had our zope site up for some time now without a problem. however, since a couple of days, only 1 python process gets spawned: nobody 11614 1 0 Nov 18 ? 2:24 python /usr/local/Zope-2.0.1-src/pcgi/pcgi_publisher.py This used to be 4 of 'em, like it ought to be. Python is 1.52 and to my knowledge nothing has been changed to apache and pcgi (I use zope 2.0.1 as a virtual host under apache, using pcgi to call zope) have any of you experienced something alike or have suggestion where to look? (I know there's the -t swith for ZServer, but since I use pcgi_publisher.py instead of z2.py ...) -- Maarten Slaets Web Developer KPNQwest Belgium http://www.fonky.com/vcard/MaartenSlaets/
