Zcatalog and PrincipiaSearchSource with Zclasses ?

>From what i gather, the PrincipiaSearchSource variable let you do a full text search in DTML-documents and methods... It seems, though, that this doesn't work with Zclass-instances.. Is there any way to do a full text search of Zclass instances ?? for example i'd like to be able to search among my 'newsdoc' instances, not only by title, author or content, but with a single form-field.. Acquisition Problem

I have a Folder structure which looks something like this: FolderA FolderB FolderC In FolderA I have a DTMLMethod which iterates over all of its subfolders and invokes a method for each folder in turn called "sidebarTitle". The actual implementation of sidebarTitle resides in FolderA. It does some work and then attempts to invoke methods which are defined in FolderB and FolderC. When the iterating method gets invoked in FolderA it properly invokes the sidebarTitle method. However, when the sidebarTitle method tries to invoke the methods which are defined in FolderB and FolderC I get a KeyError message. I can't figure out why the DTMLMethod isn't being found. My actual code looks like this: DTMLMethod rsidebar (Defined in FolderA) <dtml-let originator=id> <dtml-with FolderA> <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder'])" sort=folderOrder> <dtml-var "sidebarTitle(sender=id, base=originator)"> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> </dtml-let> DTMLMethod sidebarTitle (Defined in FolderA) <dtml-if "sender == base"> <dtml-var expandedSidebar> <dtml-else> <dtml-var simpleSidebar> </dtml-if> DTMLMethod expandedSidebar (Defined in FolderB) Expanded FolderB Content DTMLMethod simpleSidebar (Defined in FolderB) Simple FolderB Content DTMLMethod expandedSidebar (Defined in FolderC) Expanded FolderC Content DTMLMethod simpleSidebar (Defined in FolderC) Simple FolderC Content If I change the code in the sidebarTitle method to simply display text rather than attempting to invoke the expandedSidebar and simpleSidebar methods, the output is what I would expect to see. However, when the methods are used I get a KeyError on simpleSidebar. Any idea on what might be happening? Thanks. James W. Using "global" images in /root/subfolder

Let's assume the following structure of a site /root /global_images mail_png link_png /content some_content (DTML document) In some_content, I would like to use something to the effect of <dtml-var mail_png> to take advantage of the image "mapping" provided by Zope. But how can I address mail_png? The goal is to address a few global images from any location on the site with the least amount of work possible. I am as far as <dtml-var globalImage> in "some_content". "globalImage" is a DTML document in /root that contains <dtml-var graphics.mail_png> to directly access the image. For the less interesting parts <dtml-var "graphics.mail_png"> <dtml-with "graphics"> <dtml-var "mail_png"> </dtml-with> <dtml-with "graphics"> <dtml-with "_.namespace(AName='mail_png')"> <dtml-var "mail_png"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> <dtml-with "graphics"> <dtml-with "_.namespace(AName='mail_png')"> <dtml-var "_['AName']"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> works, but unfortunately, <dtml-var "_['AName']"> emits "mail_png" as the *text*, not the image. IOW, I am stuck. Oh, I have no clue how to pass a parameter to the DTML document, so that I can say <dtml-var name="globalImage(AName='mail_png')"> <dtml-var name="globalImage(AName='link_png')"> or whatever works. Please be gentle and explicit. I have next to no idea about Zope and Python and am just trying to "port" an existing static web site to Zope to get started. Thanks!

There really isn't any mangling going on, it's no possible for Zope to generate Python code or assume file names or anything else like that. When you develop a product through the web, you are organizing a set of objects, and the only thing Zope know how to do to distribute these objects is to package them up into pickles. -Michel

I'm still chasing the problem, and I got it to work at one point. There seems to be a related bug in Zope in OFS/Image.py, where the conditional test for "modified since X" is backward: ---- cut here ---- ms=REQUEST.get_header('If-Modified-Since', None) if ms is not None: ms=string.split(ms, ';')[0] ms=DateTime(ms).timeTime() if self._p_mtime > ms: RESPONSE.setStatus(304) # Not Modified Since Then return RESPONSE ---- cut here ---- If the object's modification time is (>) than the directive, then it *has* been modified since that time, and the code should *not* return status 304. So I reversed it... And now it works -every other time-. In fact, if I just comment out the entire "If-Modified-Since" stuff, and let every image appear new, it also fails every other time. <grr> By failure, what I mean is that you bring up a GIF image in the browser, and hit reload (no SHIFT key). The first time it updates the image, the second time is receives an HTTP response Content-Length of zero. Under Netscape 4.61 under Linux (HTTP/1.1), this causes the browser to segfault if you then ask it to 'view the source' of that document. Under Netscape 2.02 for OS/2 (HTTP/1.0), it pops up a dialog box that it got an empty document. Under Netscape 4.04 for OS/2 (HTTP/1.1), it spins forever waiting for some data to arrive. And if I run it thru a proxy like Webdebug.py, for tracing, it hangs Webdebug.py, doing a read on a socket that never gets data and you can no longer access Webdebug's HTML logging features since it is blocked. <sigh> I've done two 20-hour days on this so I'm going to bed. If anyone knows the HTTP/1.x spec quite well and can tell me why "IF-MODIFIED-SINCE" request headers can't just be ignored (albeit w/performance hit) with no ill effects, I'd appreciate it hearing about it. Otherwise tomorrow it's into the RFCs... -Jeff Rush P.S. The other gotcha on this problem was that the Expires: header *MUST* be set to the "LAST-MODIFICATION* date. I tried stuffing the current date and the server's "DATE:" header into it with odd results. The time lag btw LAST-MOD and DATE was ~17 secs (human click response time) and the refresh would -fail- for those 17 seconds after an image was modified (browser would not even -ask- for the image), but then work after that (browser would then start sending IF-MODIFIED-SINCE requests). And the tip that holding down the SHIFT key while clicking refresh to bypass the cache was worth it's weight in gold. When I do that, the images -always- update correctly. Turns out doing that causes the browser to never send any IF-MODIFIED-SINCE requests, just simple GETs. MySQL Database Adapter

I'm trying to hookup mySQL database to Zope. I've tried everything. I've downloaded the latest DA. I've follow ALL of the README.TXT instructions. I've reinstalled all of the C libraries. I just can't compile the damn thing. Could someone out there please be kind and treat me like a two year old and explain in explicit, excruciating detail and how install the DA. I must've missed something simple that everyone else "just knows". I'm on a Debian/Apache box running Zserver with Zope 2.0.0 and Python 1.5.2. What are the versions of all of the other components I need? In what order do I install them? Thanks in advance, Liz Pelletier
