Help with SQL Like statement
by Mats Nordgren 07 Oct '99

07 Oct '99

Hi again, I have a question regarding the ZSQL methods. How do you use LIKE in your sql statements? ex: SELECT * FROM clients WHERE last_name LIKE <dtml-sqlvar search_criteria type=string>% the problem arises because the type automatically adds the '' around the search_criteria and the percentage sign needs to be inside the '' as in 'Smi%' for all accounts that start with Smi. RE: [ZOPE Collector] Zope Question entry: Basic ZClass Containers : Resource Not Found on add? : Resource Not Found on add?

Is this a bug, or expected behaviour? If you look at your FnordContainer ZClass you'll see a tab called 'subobjects'. This contains a list of objects that can be added to your container. You must select one of these objects in order for the add list to come up correctly. It is a bug that ZClasses contained in a ZClass ObjectManager don't show up in this list so you can specify them. -Michel

ZCatalog, FieldIndexes and TextIndexes
by marian.mcnatt＠smawins.com 07 Oct '99

07 Oct '99

Can someone give me a good explanation of the difference between a FieldIndex and a TextIndex? Also... I have created a ZCatalog for a search on my web site. Currently, the users can search on Title, Keyword, or Summary, but they have to choose which one they want to search on. I want the search to have one entry box that will search all three different fields. I'm sure there's a good way to do this, as I see it on the zope.org site, but I can't figure out how they did it. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

Does Zope pass the "ACID" test?
by Robert O'Connor 07 Oct '99

07 Oct '99

There is a good article on linuxworld about databases and particularly the benefits of Oracle over other RDBMS: (Also, see the sidebar titled: "Aren't all databases alike? ACIDify your programs to better health" http://www.linuxworld.com/linuxworld/lw-1999-09/lw-09-aolserver_3.html Further down in the article is a description: "...Oracle gives me the ACID (atomicity, consistency, isolation, durability) transaction-processing guarantees: ..." *** Does Zope's internal Zope Object DataBase (ZODB) Meet the ACID test? Thanks. -Bob bob(a)rocnet.com

ZSQL Method Question
by Ping Lau 07 Oct '99

07 Oct '99

Hello, Can anyone explain how ZSQL Method makes info available to DTML? For example, getCustomer is a ZSQL Method and I used it in a DTML method: <dtml-in "getCustomer(id=123)"> <dtml-var id> <br> <dtml-var name> </dtml-in> I would like to know how id & name, which are fields of customer table, magically become available. Thanks. Regards, Ping

Variable rendering in a <dtml-with> statement
by Sture Lygren 07 Oct '99

07 Oct '99

Hi! Guess you people are tired of me asking so many questions - sorry. Hopefully this one will be of the last I send (I'm nearly there). I have this code: <dtml-if foldername> <dtml-with PARENTS[-1].Documents.foldername> <--- Doesn't work <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder','File'])" skip_unauthorized=1> <dtml-if "meta_type=='Folder'"> <a href="?foldername=<dtml-var id>"> <--- foldername passed back <img src="<dtml-var icon>"> this method </a> <dtml-var id><br> <dtml-else> <img src="<dtml-var icon>"> <dtml-var id><br> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> </dtml-if> What I try to do is to show a persons hieracy of folders and files starting at the top level. Thereafter I will add 'copy', 'cut', 'paste', 'delete' and 'rename' functions to the view (sort of like the manage_workplace one). Basically I'm stuck here - could someone please tell me how (if possible) to fix the above code to a working one, or poit me to a working scheme? Many thanks in advance! Sture Lygren

As > an example, have a folder called general, in which is a > folder for each > client: > > general/ > client1/ > client2/ > > > but, how do you implement the following: in /clients an http authentication should be issued. Depending on the user that logged in, zope should scan the subdir/objects to check which ones he can access, and only display those to the client. example: client A goes to /clients zope asks his login/pw zope checks the subdirs: /clients/newsforclientA /clients/newsforclientB /clients/newsforclientAandB and only displays 2 links (to /clients/newsforclientAandB and /clients/newsforclientA Any ideas? RE: [Zope] NS-CGI Auth Patch Problem

There is some documentation on the NS site regarding building NS server extensions. If someone out there has binaries that they can send you, great - but be sure that the binaries are compatible with your particular NS server and version. There are enough different NS servers out there now that I'm not sure one binary fits all on a given platform.
