Passing query strings in trees

All, I have a Zope tree structure that requires a query variable to be passed to it. The first time through, I can pass it on the http request with no problem: http://www.mgmt-inc.com/some_object?variable=value But this query string is not included in the [+] and [-] links to expand/contract the tree so that I can pass it on to the next rendering of this object. How do I do this? Thanks for the help, Jim

I am trying to write a simple address book program as an exercise. I created 4 folders. The hierarchy looks like this: Country State_Province City Address Each country contains one or more states/provinces. Each state/province contains one or more cities. Address folder is at the same level as Country folder. Country has only one attribute: name. State has two attributes: name and countryid. City also has two attributes: name and state_provinceid. Address has three attributes: street, cityid, and type. In the Address form, I have a 1. textarea box to collect street info 2. select/option box to collect address type info 3. button, when clicked will open a new window to show a list of cities. In the City List, there is one button next to each city to allow users to select it. The question is how to show whatever users has typed in the street textarea box and the city, state, and country names in the Address form after an user has selected a city. I know how to call SQL method to join city, state, & country tables. Most importantly, I don't want to save the Address to the table until the City is selected. Regards, Ping

ZClass Permission Mapping Problem

Hi: I created a ZClass, memberClass. When I create an instance, I can modify its properties, but I cannot change its id (choosing rename from the contents view of the containing folder). The traceback is below. What permission mapping do I need to support rename? This fails for me as superuser, so I don't believe it is a matter of role permissions. Actually, Dreamweaver is much better than you think! At the UCON conference it was released that Dreamweaver is built on a version of ECMASCRIPT(Javascript) and .XML, The entire app(minus some core code) is all javascript and is easily manipulated. The kit you found is a tool for building functionality into Dreamweaver. It is really powerful. As Dreamweaver has FTP access there is no reason that Dreamweaver cannot be a full blown IDE for Zope. There are 3 things that would need to happen: 1. DTML Tags would have to be added to ZOPE under a ZOPE MENU 2. Modify the MIME SETTINGS so Dreamweaver could recognize ZOPE Docs (or rename them in ZOPE) 3. Add ZOPE Logic to the menus. (IF, WHILE, IN) Oracle built a dreamweaver extension to view and edit parameters in an oracle database. With the Dreamweaver SDK there really isn't anything you can't do. Actually there is allot of publically available code already written. You don't really use CGI scripts under Zope. Something akin to a CGI script in the Zope world would be an external method, which you must write in Python. A counter script could be implemented as an external method and possibly someone has come up with a clever way to implement one in DTML (the scripting language used by Zope which gets intertwined with HTML display). Kevin Dangoor gave me the solution to a similar problem. However, it takes two steps as currently implemented. 1) A copy of the default (image, document ,etc) is created in the instance. 2) You go to the instance and change the default to the new (image, document, etc) If you can find a way to do it all in one step, please let me know. As you have discovered, if you don't make a copy, the object in the instance is (a pointer back to) the original. If you do not create a copy, any changes you make are to the original. Quoting my response to his email (posted to the list on October 1) [BEGIN QUOTE] Here is a quick write-up for others taken from the example of KM|Net News. In your xProduct, create a DTML document (or method) with id default. This is at the same level as the xClass, xClass_add, xClass_addForm, and xClassFactory. [NOTE: Kevin says to put the default in the xClass.
