Downloading data

I have a DTML document that produces 2 lines of text with a CRLF at the end of each line. When saved to a file this is a comma delimited merge file for a wordprocessing form letter. Currently I have to right click on the link and then select Save as... and then save the file to disk. How would I structure things in Zope so that when I left click on the link instead of the 2 text lines showing up in my browser window, it would download as a file instead? I have a variable named engdt that is a datetime returned from a ZODBCA method. How would I use the isFuture zope datetime parameter to compare engdt with the date 01-01-1990? Thanks in advance. Jim Sanford Accelerated Technology, Inc.

This will take care of most cases where you need to pass in the client object and namespace. It wouldn't, for example, take care of chas' "<dtml-var "Imports.blah.method()"> scenario, though... Maybe there would be an appropriate place in the DTML Guide to mention client object and namespace parameters for DTML Methods. >> b) Where on earth do you dig all this stuff up from ? Having a good (ie not egroups) searchable mail archive will probably cut down list traffic significantly once people are used to it. Many questions that come across the list are things that people have asked before... Kevin

Try this: <dtml-var "Imports.folder.method(_.None, _)"> This will pass the namespace to the method, and possibly fix a & b above... Kevin

Not very. Last week I proposed a new semantic to the <dtml-var> tag. <dtml-var aMethodThatWantsArguments arguments="{'arg1':value, 'arg2':value}"> This is identical to: <dtml-var "aMethodThatWantsArguments(_.None, _, arg1=value, arg2=value)"> I think the first is a *little* cleaner. Just FYI, the first argument to a DTML Method is the 'client object', this is commonly '_.None'. If you want a DTML method to get its namespace from an object, pass it in as the client. For example, you could pass in 'this()' to use yourself as the client. The '_' object is the namespace stack, which is a collection of all namespaces in your current context. So, a DTML Method can be given a namespace in three ways: o With a client object o With a namespace mapping o With keyword arguments > b) Where on earth do you dig all this stuff up from ? Folks, please do not cross post - choose one audience or another! If you're responding to a cross posting, constrain to one list or another - you can post to the excluded list saying you're taking the conversation there, but i presume there's enough overlap in membership on the lists that too many people have to contend with multiple copies of your message... Executing Oracle stored procedures in Zope
by Dave Parker 29 Sep '99

Specifically - how? I've been unable to find any reference to this in the documentation save for how to do it within python - is there a way to do it with DTML or within a SQL Method? Thanks
