FTP error

I see this when double clicking on certain files in IE5 after I access the 8021 ftp port as ftp://login:password@localhost:8021 I thought that the FTP server wasn't doing any kind of dtml interpretation but it may be that IE is trying to pass by the FTP as I see partial texts with IE and things mostly go ok with nestofsnakes. 2.0.1 File Add Error; Help.

A colleague is getting an error when trying to add a large file with ID UK99.zip I'm sure that the file exists. Adding a test file worked OK. I have tried the same operation on my machine and get no error. On his machine an FTP transfer can upload the file. I run win95 with no network. The error occurs with 2.0.1 Win98 with I think Novell as the network provider. We're just about to go live so I need some input on this. According to my buddy the transaction seems to be doing something, but then after a fairly long time the error happens. Could there be a timeout somewhere along the line? Ainis, You can do this by using the PARENTS object. For example, the following (untested) code, when run from http://youserver/test/dir2/hardware/prices/index_html (assuming index_html is a dtml method and not a dtml document -- a dtml document has its own properties) will give you the id of the /test/dir2 folder:  e.g. it will print "dir2" While:  will give you the id of the hardware folder (e.g. it will print "hardware"), et. al. I think the easiest way would be- <dtml-if dir2> but that has to be done only from /test/dir2/hardware/prices/ names pace which (i think) I have already lost with <dtml-with test>. So how do I compare the older name space's variable with newer one's? I also tried some tricks with <dtml-with blah only> but with no success. where are you sticking site-wide methods/resources ? (too many DTML-WITH's) DTML-WITH's)

In the past 3 weeks I've reorganised my code as many times and I still haven't come to an optimal solution. So, may I ask : how are others doing this ? For example, I have 50+ DTML methods and 40+ external methods which are used throughout the site (I have many more of each which are specific to certain folders but they're not a problem.) The most convenient thing would be to stick these 'site-wide' methods in the root folder of Zope but then I had to scroll 2 pages to get to the pulldown menu and, basically, I didn't like it. So, I stuck all of these into a folder called /Imports and split them into further subfolders. Then I use <DTML-WITH "Imports"><DTML-VAR methodname></DTML-WITH> or <DTML-WITH "Imports.Subfolder"><DTML-VAR methodname></DTML-WITH> This caused quite a few headaches at first as variables disappeared often. But the biggest problem has been that my pages are so full of <DTML-WITH>'s that I'm losing a lot of the 'thoughtspace' (ie. I can't just look at a page and easily grok what it does - all I see is these WITH's) ... this bodes not well for a large, long term project. What I love about Python is that I can write import module1, module2, module3 at the top of a script and be done with it. The rest of the code is then elegant and clean. The equivalent in DTML would be to put <DTML-WITH Imports> into standard_html_header and </DTML-WITH> in the footer but obviously that is not possible because it would royally screw up the namespace/acquisition. Am I overlooking something here ? cheers, chas

Hi, Australian Zope users may be interested in some updates which add timezone data for Australia/NSW (including daylight savings periods) and corrects a "US/Eastern" problem. problem with let tag

Hello ALL, According to documentation zope.org this should work: <dtml-let foo="blah"> <dtml-var foo> </dtml-let> but it does not, I get an error Error Type: NameError Error Value: blah It seems that it considers blah as a variable, so how could I tell zope that it's just a string?
