Digital Creations is pleased to announce the new Zope.org site. http://www.zope.org/ This site showcases Zope's advanced features, and provides a portal for Zope community members to share resources. * What's new about this site? The new site is focused on providing a framework for the Zope community to develop on-line Zope resources. Using Zope itself community members can experiment and create their own resources on Zope.org, much as Python hackers create their own content on the Python Starship site. To participate, you can create a membership for yourself which provides you with an area to create objects, and the ability to personalize the site. The new Zope.org site is running Zope 2 and makes heavy use of the Portal Toolkit, the Catalog and ZClasses. * What's Membership all about? Membership allows you to create an account on Zope.org. Then you can build and manage your own Zope objects. You can upload your contributed software, and author your own documents on-line. If you can't install Zope locally this is a great way to try it out. If you are a Zope guru an account allows you to share you information efficiently with the Zope community. Everything you create can be woven into the fabric of the site through the magic of the catalog. For example, the Zope How-To page is built from a search of all public Zope.org Member How-To's. Membership also allows you to find out about what's happened on the site since you last visited. For example you can search for all the New Item objects that have changed since you were last at the site. * Is the site useful if you don't want to be a Member? Yes, the main feature of the new site for non-members is searchability and access to member content. Wondering about DTML syntax, just type "getitem" into the search form and find the right pages of the DTML Guide, and any relevant user contributed How-Tos. * What's changed since the site went beta? Now the site has over 600 Members. Site is a lot more solid. We've implemented lots of small fixes and add a lot of content. * What should I do if I find something broken or have suggestions? Send them to webmaster(a)zope.org. We have lots of plans to improve the site further, and would like to hear your ideas too. Give the new site a whirl and have fun! -Amos P.S. dtml-with problems

Hi all, I have a DTML Document that calls a DTML Method: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var expr="renderReportType(renderType='edit', renderID=reportTypeIDSearch)"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Within the DTML Method renderReportType, I perform: <dtml-with adminSQL> ... </dtml-with> adminSQL is a folder containing SQL Methods. It resides within the same folder that renderReportType and the DTML Document do. When I call the document, ZOPE complains: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: KeyError Error Value: adminSQL I was under the impression that the dtml-with tag was supposed to fix exactly this problem... :-) Any ideas? Thanks, -scott

ZMySQLDA does not work in Zope 2.0

Zopsters, I saw a post from adjustman(a)comstar.net telling me that MySQLdb-0.1.0 is now in beta and can be downloaded. Is this adapter file to be used instead of ZMySQLDA? I can't find a new adapter for MySQL3.23. Is there an alternate approach to using MySQL databases? Should I use the postrgreess database adapter?

More pickle problems... becoming epidemic.

When clicking on a particular folder, I now get the following: This object is broken because the unknown product that created it is no longer installed or is installed incorrectly. Please contact your product vendor for assistance. Note that the data associated with this product has not been lost, and will be accessible again if the product is reinstalled. I'm still getting the "couldn't unpickle" errors sporadically, as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is a fresh install of 2.0.0, if that helps. Regards, -scott

I tried to follow the example of a let tag in "DTML User's Guide". I tried made a DTML Method with the following code: <dtml-in "1,2,3,4"> <dtml-let num=sequence-item index=sequence-index result="num*index" <dtml-var num> * <dtml-var index> = <dtml-var result> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> When I click on Change, I have the message: invalid parameter: " Similarly, I tried the example in the HOW-TO: let Tag: <dtml-let name="bob"> relation="uncle" <dtml-var name> is your <dtml-var relation> </dtml-let> I can click on Change, the problem is when I go the URL of the method, I get message: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NameError Error Value: bob ...What's wrong?

Phil (Susan?) was correct, when you start zope as root, it turns itself into nobody, just like almost all other servers do. 'nobody' does not have permission towrite your var directory. Either run it as a different user, or change your directory permissions. If you are running linux, there are several good security references on LDP site. You should have a fairly firm grasp of unix security if you want to run servers. http://www.linuxdoc.org/ -Michel

Greetings, Thanks for the reply, but I don't think I made myself very clear. When I start the zope server as root (linux here) and run the ./start file on line 494 the problem happens. Can't create the file! 1.) Can I uninstall Zope so that I can try it again 2.)
