hello friends VERY VERY new to ZOPE and dfacing a problem with my final year project : working on a project that involves making an existing plone product json rpc enabled so that i can use it for cross site calls from a Mozilla extension i cant make standard httprequests because of the cross site security issues in the browser the query library (that i have to make json rpc enabled ) works fine with xml rpc in python and using the GET method in the url but i need it to work for json requests i have added this http://www.zope.org/Members/ree/jsonserver2 and tried using several javascript json rpc libraries but still no luck are there any settings involved that i have to do to make the query library json enabled there is also an examples section to it which breaks the ZMI completely in the above package there is a test folder containing a test script to check the working but no clue how to execute it cos in teh zmi it goes into a loop asking for authorization if u can pls help me and tell me a solution to this problem it will be just awesome thanks jayakrishnan Nair

Eventually I have replaced <dtml-var firstname> with <dtml-var expr="firstname.decode('utf8')"> I do'nt really understand why, and it's not very convenient as I must fix all the pages, but it works! I take your suggestion to find a Catalog-based solution. I have set the subtransactions very low (100). UTF-8 problem with zope2.10 and postgresql

Hello, I'm trying to upgrade my applications from debian sarge to debian lenny, so from zope2.7 to zope2.10. I've decided to have all in UTF-8 in my new server, which is the default for lenny, for postgresql also. The situation now is : In the database, all is OK If I create a ZSQL method (say sql_candidat) in the ZMI and test it, all is OK (example firstname : Andrée) If I create a dtml method, loop over my ZSQL method, and print the firstname, it's messed up. Example dtml: <dtml-in sql_candidat> <dtml-var firstname> </dtml-in> The result in the browser is : AndrÃ©e A contrario : In the page <input type="text" size="20" name="firstname:utf8:ustring" In the browser, I type Andrée, I click on submit, the data are saved through another ZSQL method (UPDATE SQl statement) and all is OK in the database In zope.conf: locale fr_FR.utf8 rest-input-encoding utf-8 rest-output-encoding utf-8 rest-language-code fr default-zpublisher-encoding utf-8 In the HTML page <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> The HTTP header (with liveHTTPheader in firefox) is correct : Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Any idea ? sharing instance_home?

Large BTreeFolder2 batching/pagination

We have some BTreeFolder2's containing hundreds of thousands of objects, even one containing over 2 million instances of Folder. That is really no problem in itself. Under our setup, beyond 300-400,000 contained objects, the batching provided by getBatchObjectListing becomes unusable. I've seen this problem mentioned somewhere but never any hint of a solution. We have a new application that will require pagination, or ideally, the ability to go forward and back through the items (any order). Is there a way to refer to the contained items by something like offset? It might be easy if the objects had sequential, consecutive numeric ids, but sadly this cannot be the case. We are using the BTreeFolder2-1.0.2 version that came with Zope 2.10. Thanks. Ken

Local File System Product

Hi all, I have to upgrade a very old Zope/Plone site, that is using the "Local File System" Product (http://sourceforge.net/projects/localfs/) This Product has not seen any new release since 2002. Is there any successor Product or is it possible to use default Plone mechanisms to do what localfs does? Best Regards, Jan

Zope3 on Ubuntu 64

I've installed Zope3 on a 64 bit Ubuntu platform and all seems well. I've run mkzopeinstance and the instance directory is there and looks ok. However, when I try to start the instance, it says [fail] for the zserver instance and there are no entries in the z3.log file. The default instance chosen was 9673, not 8080. I wonder if that's saying it's not finding an available port. But I've port scanned the machine and both 9673 and 8080 are open. Any ideas what to try next? How do I enable more logging output? Prevent a logger from writing to event.log

Hi, Is it possible to have a logger in Zope that doesn't write to the event.log?
