Catching external links - Ideas ?

Hi ! I am pretty new to Zope and I am looking for a way to allow content authors to link to external sites through a logging redirector. I would like to save those people from typing the redirector-URL and having to URL-escape some characters. What I want to provide the content writers with is something like:  and get <A HREF="/redirect?http%3a%2f%2fsome.where%3fquery%2520string%23name" onMouseOver="...">Look, there !</A> If you have an idea on how to achieve this with Zope builtins or on the best way to implement it, please give me a hint. ZSQLMethods broken in 2.0.0b3?

I installed 2.0.0b3 on linux yesterday and the DAs don't work anymore (Gadfly of Postgres). I can add the connection ok but when I go to add a ZSQLMethod I get an error that no connections exist. I looked at the DA code but it seems to be the same between 2.0.0b1 and 2.0.0b3. This is the code that I want to modify (and ultimately, let others modify to their own specifications). This is *such* a big win for us... 2) In this snippet, content is defined in the Python code. In my real application it is obtained from a db lookup 3) the read_raw method is important, otherwise the template is HTML-quoted 4) Phillip is *the man*! :) Many thanks Phillip, this has broken a huge log jam for me. cheers again, tone out.

I have written a Z SQL Method which performs a query on a Sybase Database (Sybase ASE 11.0.3.3 on Linux). It returns a date field which appears to display as seconds. How can I format the field to display as dd/mm/yyyy? Regards Austin Wilson

Zope mailing list archives?

Please pardon what must be a FAQ. (Is there an FAQ list for this list?) I know where the message archive is on the zope site, but it does not seem to be searchable. Is there a searchable site for ALL of the zope mailing lists. (I just remembered, I think the zope list is archived and searchable on www.egroups.com) Seems to me the new Zcatalog tool could be used to index the zope site including the message archives.

Permissions for Versions?

Hi! Which permissions does one user need to start/quit working in Versions? A user that has "view management screens" (which works) and "join/leave versions" doesn't get Start/Quit buttons, and entering the "enter" URL manually gives a permission error. Small problem with Zope

After a week I finally make zope 1.10.3 work with apache in Debian. But I have a small problem: when the server starts, it tells after a while "Temporarily unavailable", and in the HTML source it says "connection refused". But if I run in the prompt (with root) the command: /usr/bin/pcgi-wrapper /usr/lib/cgi-bin/Zope then it makes an error with the publisher and after this, if I try to get into 'http://my.host/Zope/manage', it works! *This only works if I run the command with root.* Any idea what is the problem? Because it's not commfortable to do this every time after the server has a problem or a reboot. I will apreciate any help and also if you email to my email address because i'm not in the zope list. Important Note to List Members

I discovered something when I signed up for the list and though a word of caution to list members was in order. If you go to http://www.zope.org/mailman/roster/zope you can see a list of current subscribers. This pages lists all of our email addresses (albeit with "@" replaced with " at " forcing would be spammers to do a search and replace). If you wish not to have your email address displayed on that list, simply click your address in the list, change the last option on the following page to "Yes", enter your password, and click submit. It is my personal opinion that this option should be set to yes by default, since it is quite likely that many people miss that option completely and don't realize that this list is online for all the world to see. People should be able to add themselves if they want to, but they should not be on that list automatically when the option is as inconspicuous as it is.
