DTML docs vs. methods problems with zserver/ftp

hi! i was wondering if someone had this problem as well: i have created a standard_html_header as a DTML method in zope-2.0 and then i have used zserver/ftp to read this file into my xemacs (via ange-ftp or efs or whatever) to edit it. when i save the file back to the zodb3 it ends up as a DTML document which is quite annoying because i want a "method" and not a "document" ... thilo

First, you should confirm that Zope is working properly by firing it up with one of several other webservers, Apache (Zap is the easiest), ZServer, or ZopeHTTPServer. Make sure you get Zope working perfectly before going off into the unknown. I'm assuming Zope can run a CGI script. If so, it needs to run Zope.cgi. Zeus needs to set an environment variable, it needs to take the 'HTTP Authorization' header and set it to the HTTP_AUTHORIZATION environment variable (for the CGI processes environment) *for each web request*. How Zeus runs CGI, or sets env variables, is beyond me. ANNOUNCE: Z Classes Tutorial Update

There's a new version of the Z Classes Tutorial available http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ZClasses It's now available in HTML and PDF flavors. (The HTML is pretty ugly, but it should be a lot better in the next version.) This version of the tutorial has been updated for Zope 2.0.0a2. The next revision of the tutorial will probably be as part of the forthcoming Zope Developers Guide. As always I'd love to hear your comments. -Amos P.S. This is an interesting problem, which I struggled with for a few long dreary hour myself. It seems that manage_changeProperties doesn't exist in the Z Class instance itself, and is thus acquired from its parent (the folder). At least that's how I analyze the behaviour. The "workaround for this bug" or "correct way of doing things" (pick a one; I don't know which it is):  Substitute CDProperties for the name of your property sheet. It seems to me that manage_changeProperties ought to implemented on Z Classes, as you might not always know which property sheet to address. In most cases, I think, you'll just want to say "put all these properties using the property sheets they belong to". Anybody at DC listening? problem with tutorial?

If I create a folder 'test' under my root folder, in which I make a new 'CD' object called myCD (as described in the Z Classes tutorial), and then create run this bit of DTML in that folder:  Instead of myCD's title being changed, the containing folder 'test' gets its title changed to 'Rivers'. What am I doing wrong here? Daniel Drucker
