how to use #sendmail properly?

hi! i would like to use the #sendmail tag together with the smtphost-attribute (without a mailhost object!!!) to send out mails. i've got a string object called MySmtpHost and i would like to use it like this:  but of course, sendmail now tries to send the mail to a machine called MySmtpHost without dereferencing the variable. but this is not what i want... is there a way to get my variable dereferenced inside the #sendmail tag or do i really have to use a MailHost object? thilo

calling a SQL method without arguments

If I have an SQL method with one optional argument, how can I call it without using that argument: For example: SQL_method Arguments: authorid select * from authors    Theoretically, if I call this with a authorid, it'll return the proper row, and if I don't, it'll return all rows. But, given the following:  blah  I get this error:  So, what's the proper way to call a SQL method without arguments?

Searching Zope sites?

Let me guess. This is a fairly frequently asked question? I'm using Zope 1.11.0pr1, and I'm looking for a simple way to permit full-text search, preferably including boolean expressions, on Zope sites. Looks to me like the only objects supporting the "Z Search Interface" are SQL Methods and Confera topics. Will full search capabilities come with the Portal Toolkit? Zope 1.10.2, Sessions and Z SQL Methods

Under Zope 1.10.2, Sessions and Z SQL Methods do not seem to play nicely. Querying through a Z SQL Method (using the ZPyGreSQLDA, at least) appears to modify the method somehow. This means that if somebody's working in a session while a user is browsing the site, bad things tend to happen. This makes Sessions nearly useless. Does anybody know how I can work around this problem? Cheers, Eric

RewriteRule for Zope.cgi

Hi, Seem to be having trouble getting my RewriteRule correct for authenticating. Cn some one take a look and see what is I am doing wrong here. This is a RHL 5.2, with Apache-1.3.3. The rewrite is the last entry in the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf RewriteEngine on RewriteLog /var/log/httpd/ap_rewrite_log RewriteLogLevel 9 RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/cgi-bin/Zope(.*) /cgi-bin/Zope$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] The Zope.cgi is located in /home/httpd/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi. This directory is recognized by appache as an cgi directory with this entry in the /etc/httpd/conf/access.conf: <Directory /home/httpd/cgi-bin> AllowOverride None Options ExecCGI </Directory> Owner nobody rwxr-xr-x /var/local/zope nobody rwxr-xr-x /var/local/zope/* nobody rwxr-xr-x When I go to /www.ohiocounty.net/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi I get an error 403 Forbidden. Permission mappings, Z Classes, and acquisition

Let's say I create a Z Class "Document" and define some new permission types. Then for some objects in my Z Class I create permission mappings, such as "Add Documents, Images, and Files" and "Delete objects" mapping to my permission type "Manage documents". Then I create some instances of the Z Class in the folder "Documents". I define a new global role "DocumentAdmin". I want this role to manage documents in the "Documents" folder and all subfolders. But there's the rub. I'd like to use acquisition to enable these security settings for all documents in this hierarchy. Zope only allows giving this permission to this role for each and every specific Z Class instance, because my custom permissions, such as "Manage documents", are not available on the folder level -- they're only available on instances. Is this a bug? Isn't the permission list supposed to be a superset of all available permission types defined in the database? Am I missing something? Because of this design, I guess I have to create a dummy Z Class called "DocumentFolder" which defines my custom permissions, then let the root folder be an instance of this class. Which is fine, but I didn't expect having to do this. If this is by design, I'd like to know the rationale behind it. University Website with Zope

I a working on a more effective way to manage the website for a public university in North Carolina. Lately I have been considering Zope as a possible solution. I have spent some time using Zope and seeing what I can do with it. There are two features that are a priority in the web site... 1. We need to have a search feature where users from the web can enter a value in a search field and find documents that contain that text.....a fairly simple operation. I tried experimenting with the find feature in the Zope management interface. I was able to get close to what I want. I had to give anonymous users permision to view management screens. after some search criteria was entered a list of DTML Documents would appear that contained the text that I searched for. When I clicked on the documents it took me to the management screen for that document....from there i could view it. I would like to be able to better control the appearance of the output after a user does a search and I would like the user to be sent directly to a document listed in the search results.....without going through the management screen. 2. We would like to have a dynamically generated site map....this will probably only be avalible to administrators but possibly outside users. With the site map I would like to see what is linked to what...and if there are any broken links. I tried using the tree tag but nothing showed up.    is there something wrong with it? a tree view may be sufficient. I am currently running... Zope 1.10.2 (binary release, python 1.5.1, win32-x86), on Python 1.5.1 (#0, Nov 18 1998, 12:17:58) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] on win32. Eventually we plan on installing Zope on our primary academic machine....unix....that is if we can implement the features we want. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Zope on a CD-ROM?

I'm trying to put my Zope app (1.10.2, Win NT) on a CD-ROM for demo purposes, using ZopeHTTPServer. I have a batch file whichs sets ZOPE_READ_ONLY before starting start.bat.
