Optional date properties (Zope 1.11)

I thought I could add an optional date property to my Z Class' property sheet, but no -- it seems Zope requires that you fill in a valid date. Is there a workaround? Isn't this inconsistent with other properties' behaviour, though? Wouldn't it be logical that an empty date value as entered in Zope's management screens would represent "None" or at least a generic "zero" date? -- Alexander Staubo http://www.mop.no/~alex/ "`Ford, you're turning into a penguin. Additional HTML-Header on ZServer FTP-get

After I have read about ZServer and the FTP access method, I was really intrigued by the possibility to use emacs+ange-ftp to easily manage Zope Documents. After a bit of struggling with the Zope configuration I got it working: I LOVE emacs: I can open a file '/localhost:8021:/standard_html_header', edit it and then save it with C-x C-s and it will be changed in the Zope-Database. Cool. (I patched ange-ftp to support Port Numbers though...) Now to the Problem: Whenever I open a DTML-Document or DTML-Method, ZServer seams to add '<html><head></head>' as the first line. Saving the changed document then saves this additional HTML-Header... Bad... Is this a (known?) Bug in ZServer? I'm using ZServer Version 1.0b1 with Zope 1.10.2 and ZPublisher 990415. Another question: How does ZServer determine the type of Object to Add when put-ing a new File? Stefan.

I just got the O'Reilly Open Source Software Convention brochure. http://conferences.oreilly.com There is a track on Python and the Pre-Conference Tutorial includes "Introduction th the Zope Web Application Server" from 2pm to 5:30pm on Sat Aug 21st. Also "Community: Funding the Perfect Beast... Venture Capitalism, IP and Open Source" from 2pm-4pm on Monday, Aug 23rd. In order to use NotMail, you will need an SMTP and IMAP server. IMAP is like POP3, but much more functional. The first kind (represented by the 'open box' in the Control Panel) is a through the web developed product. Using these products, and factories, object, and maybe ZClasses, you can develop a Zope product through the web. You are not required to know any Python to make a product like this. You do, however, need to know the process by which you create a product. See Amos's ZClass tutorial in the list archives. The second kind of product (represented by the 'close box' in the Control Panel) is a pure python product. The Poll product is one of these. it is written in python and all of it's files are read off the filesystem. The reason Zope says 'Broken Poll Product' is because there is a problem somewhere in the Python code of the Poll Product. The Poll Product dates all the way back to version 1.9, so I'm guessing that a change somewhere in Zope from then till now is causing the Poll product to break. If you click on the (broken) Poll Product, there will be traceback tab that takes you to the traceback view. Phil, Unfortunately I can't help you with the first one (sorry!), but I believe I can be of more use with your second problem. If this is the same problem I saw when first using Zope to connect to an Access DB, then you need to go into DateTime.py and edit the timezone information to represent the setup on your computer. For example, take my lovely machine- located in the bleak Central timezone. I went to the Windows Date/Time properties window, checked the timezone tab and saw something along the following: (GMT -06:00) Central Time (US&Canada) Taking this info I went to DateTime.py, found the declaration for the _zmap variable and added the following: 'Central Time':'US/Central' 'Central Time' because that's what Windows is using, 'US/Central' because it was listed in _zlst and made sense (hopefully it makes sense to you too). All seemed hunky-dorey after that. Hope this helps. I can't help but seem to detect the distinct, flowery aroma of FAQ with this question. Does anybody else seem to notice it too? I'd be happy to write this up in a more suitable format and submit it if this were the case... Hi all, I hope someone can help me here, I have installed and am happily using the mxDatetime package.
