[ANN] Zope in the low countries

I proudly announce the birth of the usergroup for Dutch speaking Zope users. As they will probably mostly be from Belgium and the Netherlands (though the python newsgroup shows you never know :-) I called it Zope in the low countries (in dutch: Zope in de lage landen) The most important aim of the usergroup are: - to provide mutual assistence for Zope users on a regional level, - to be able to provide institutional decision makers with a guarantee that Zope is not some obscure and unreliable open source product but has more users and (hopefully) a great many succesfull implementations nearby. There is a discussion list coming (ZOPE-NL), but not yet operational. Details will be on the web site. To keep things focused, ZOPE-NL will be no local replacement for the regular zope lists, but a discussion forum for regional matters only. Not really, because the same is accomplished (albeit surely less efficiently) using the syntax I cite below, but thanks for the suggestion -- I didn't realize objectValues() could accept a sequence. Maybe objectValues() should be augmented with a second parameter: acceptDescendants, default value 0. So,  ... would give project instances and any descendant instances of the Project class. How to access zope remotely

Greetings, Zope Guru's My question is how to access zope remotely. I have setup zope and also a mysql database. It work well, but I want to give access to other workstations over the web. How do I do this? The documentation seems very thin in this regard. I have tried to access zope via a remote workstation brower using the following URL 159.121.14X.XX:7336\manage but it It only times out and does not get me into the zope screen. Thanks in advance for your help!!! My SETUP ----------------- Redhat 5.2 linux kernel (2.X ) Zope 1.10.2 (most stable version) Apache 1.3.4 MySQL 3.22.22 Thanks in advance for any help!

Iterating descendants of base Z Class, how?

Let's say I have a base Z Class "Project". Then I have a descendant Z Class "WebProject". Is there a way to get a list of a folder's objects that are project objects or descendants? For example,  ... will only give me instances of the base class Project, _not_ any WebProject instances. In order to do both, I have to do  ...   ...  But while this works, it's pretty inflexible, especially as I intend invent new subclasses of Project, and I do not wish to rewrite this DTML code every time I do. Optional date properties (Zope 1.11)

I thought I could add an optional date property to my Z Class' property sheet, but no -- it seems Zope requires that you fill in a valid date. Is there a workaround? Isn't this inconsistent with other properties' behaviour, though? Additional HTML-Header on ZServer FTP-get

After I have read about ZServer and the FTP access method, I was really intrigued by the possibility to use emacs+ange-ftp to easily manage Zope Documents. After a bit of struggling with the Zope configuration I got it working: I LOVE emacs: I can open a file '/localhost:8021:/standard_html_header', edit it and then save it with C-x C-s and it will be changed in the Zope-Database. Cool. (I patched ange-ftp to support Port Numbers though...) Now to the Problem: Whenever I open a DTML-Document or DTML-Method, ZServer seams to add '<html><head></head>' as the first line. Saving the changed document then saves this additional HTML-Header... Bad... Is this a (known?) Bug in ZServer? I'm using ZServer Version 1.0b1 with Zope 1.10.2 and ZPublisher 990415. Another question: How does ZServer determine the type of Object to Add when put-ing a new File? Stefan.
