Zope on Mac OS X Server

hi...i'm new to this list. just trying to give Zope and shot and see if it'll work for me. For context, I'm coming from years of Frontier use on the Mac. i was wondering if anyone's gotten Zope running on Mac OS X server (theoretically, BSD 4.4 compliant). i already had built Python 1.5.2 and have been using it w/o incident. i downloaded the Zope 1.10.2 sources, and tried a build--which got pretty far along, but then failed on a number of counts and never created the config and launching files (the best i could tell). i did this real quick the other day, and didn't jot down notes on the problems--I just thought i'd drop a line before i dug too much and see if anyone's already been down this road....any pointers? ideas? if not--i'll get back w/ more details on the problems I'm having. thanks, Greg Pierce greg(a)turtleprod.com http://www.turtleprod.com/greg/ ---Slow and Steady Wins the Race---

But I was on the right way... I did another brute-force 'nm' on all libraries and found out that the SUNWspro compiler seems to use a different math library, libsunmath.a. Since I was compiling with gcc, the library wasn't used at all. Now I added -L/applic/opt/V3_N2/SUNWspro/SC3.0.1/lib -lsunmath to the Makefile and it works! (Your SUNWspro compiler directory may be in /opt/SUNWspro/lib) I hope this helps other people compiling the stuff. Martin

ODBC and Zserver problems

When I start up Zserver using a batch file, or manually, I am able to make my ODBC connections, and see my ODBC datasources. However, if I start up Zserver as a NT service (zserver-srvany.zip), although Zope works fine in other apparent respects, it is now unable to see or access ODBC datasources. Try setting the service to run under a privileged account. That said, however, I run ZServer as a service using my srvany "hack" myself and I can see and connect to any system DSN on my server. Try downloading MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) 2.1 from www.microsoft.com. It will upgrade your ODBC DLLs and drivers if they're slightly old. Actually go grab it here: http://ftpsearch.lycos.com/cgi-bin/search?query=mdac_typ.exe. The correct file is 5.9 or 6.0 MB. maybe you could do:  this would create a new list with the first item being 1 and the rest being, well, the rest and replace the old list. Pretty ugly, though... ZClasses: can't display properties

Next slight hitch with the alpha release... trying to view a new ZClass instance (first view set to property sheet display as in tutorial) http://mysite/zclass_instance/propertysheets/zclass_instance_info/manage <http://mysite/zclass_instance/propertysheets/zclass_instance_info/manage> gives  This may be the same as "Zope Bug: ZClasses: clicking on 'propertysheet' gives error." but can't really tell from the one-liner. Anyway, looks like a great facility taking shape there, exactly the sort of thing I was looking for (is there some link between properties and XML elements brewing? The only way you can ever hope to find out is by overriding the creation process, and adding the creation date with your own code.
