What happened to some contributed software?

I just went to http://www.zope.org/Download/Contrib to download UserDB or something like that and I can't find it. I am sure there was a contribution that did user authentication using an SQL database. Now I want to do that and I can't find it. I also remember a MySQL insert wizard. Can't find it either! Anybody know where they are?? Phil A.

organizational questions

hi folks, first off, thanks to the people who offered quick, helpful responses to my question yesterday. ok, i'm converted. i've started implementing in zope. i have a relational database of about 8 tables. it is used for a registry of trainings and trainers. we have ten centers that will offer trainings. each center needs a publicly accessible home page where people can search on data in the database. also, each center needs a management section, where they can insert/edit/delete data and more. this section is restricted to certain validated users. my question is how to structure this in zope. i started by creating a centers folder, and a subfolder for each center. i plan to place common DTML docs and SQL methods in the centers folder, letting each center acquire them. each center has an ID property, corresponding to its unique ID in the database. i just noticed this morning that this is the same way its done in the budget sample application in the HOWTO section. i must be going in the right direction. i expect to have a number of DTML documents that are access restricted. for organizational clarity and ease of managing the permissions, i'd like to put them in a folder. but if i put them in a folder in the centers folder, then they are parallel to the individual centers and can't be acquired. does this mean i'm stuck putting them all in the centers folder? any suggestions? lets say i put a DTML document called dtViewTrainings in the centers directory. it uses a SQL method and an ID property to get trainings from the database. so the user views http://.../centers/roswell/dtViewTrainings and the ID is acquired from the roswell folder. everything's ok. but what if they browse to http://..centers/dtViewTrainings. there's an error because ID is not defined. that's fine, because the request makes no sense. but is this problem? it just kind of bugs me that the user could browse to this URL and get a meaningless error. thanks in advance for any help, -scott ----- Scott Lewis Baltic Avenue Productions csl(a)balticave.com

DTML style & indentation

Hi all: I am writing a DTML editing mode for emacs and I am curious about ideas for indentation style. It it, and should it be as simple as making a new line have the same indentation as the preceding DTML line, and the tab key just adding one level of indentation to this? If anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know as I am planning to make a preliminary release this week. Thanks, ----- Jordan B. [off topic] question?

Hi, Another question to all you Python programmers. To tell you the truth, I never heard about Python before I heard of Zope! I knew of Java. Do, it looks like Python is older then Java... How comes that Python is not so popular like Java (or not so known in Windows environment)? Like Java, Python is multi-platform. It can work on Windows as on Unix as on .... Are there any fundamental differences between Python and Java? I see Python has it's Java module (JPython) also... So, I don't get it... Why is Java so popular, while Python seems to be the same and is born before Java... Can somebody give me a easy explenation? Thanks, Tom.

Preserving log file with NT ZopeHTTPServer ?

I'm using the standalone Zope server under NT. I've tried DOS-style > and >> re-direction but end up with log file that doesn't grow (or perhaps one that doesn't close properly when the server app exits). ZMySQLDA install problem

I cannot install ZMySQLDA. - downloaded ZMySQLDA and put it into /usr/local/zope/python/Products/ (here I have ZGadflyDA, ExternalMethod etc.) - README.txt says "go to ZSolidDA", but there's no such directory; I assume it's a type, so I went to ZMySQLDA/src. - modified Setup.in (directives -I and -L) for my placement of MySQL. - successfuly run make -f Makefile.pre.in boot; make. The file MySQLmodule.so appeared. - typed python, and typed "import MySQL". Got this: Traceback (innermost last): file "<stdin>", line 1, in ? ImportError: File not found - Looked at Zope through browser, went to Control Panel. There is (Broken product ZMySQLDA). 1. Is this the correct way to import modules? 2. Where is MySQLmodule.so to be placed? 3. What steps are neccessary to make ZMySQLDA appear as Installed, not Broken under Zope Control Panel? ------------ Milos Prudek
