I just upgraded from 1.9.0 to 1.10.2 without a hitch on a 486/33 with Red Hat 5.0 Plus I added Confera, which is an _amazing_ product. Great job, Zope guys!!! Dumb questions: 1.) It would be ideal for me to be able to use Confera to allow people to post messages, and to have each message mailed to the subscribers of a private mailing list (since not every member would check the Confera pages every day). How could I do that? I am not a Python programmer (yet), so a clear suggestion with sample code would be _greatly_ appreciated. 2.) Is there any manual / HOWTO about access control in Confera? Specifically, how to give a bunch of users access rights to the Confera forums. Regards. [PP] Jose C. SYN??

I am getting a curious message in my system logs... Warning: possible SYN flood from 127.0.0.1 on 127.0.0.1:9673. Sending cookies. Is it just me, or does my Linux think Zope is attacking it? More importantly, could this possibly be a reason or symptom of these slowdowns I have been experiencing? Zope seems marvelously fast most of the time, but every now and again, when I click on a link, it slows to a crawl for 30 seconds or so before popping back up to full speed!

Prior to 1.10, calling float() on a DateTime would return the number of days since Jan. 1, 1901 (gmt). As of 1.10, this was apparently changed to return the number of seconds since the epoch (gmt) (note that this is also the case with int() and long() on a DateTime). I seem to recall a discussion on the list about this, but I dont remember the details (you can probably find them in the archives, though). It might not work if you want to collect individual records from a web form. While Confera is an unsupported sample application, I'll at least say that this can be done without Python. Find the DTML Method that receives posts and replies, then hack it to send emails. > 2.) It's just a Zope application, so things are supposed to behave just like other Zope objects. --Paul
