document_id vs document_title

Having a document in any folder I noticed this odd behaviour from the "if" statement: I can test on document_title but ain't been able at all to make "if" recognize the document_id... EG: running this piece of code I get "yabadabadooo out of luck" (obviously I made a doc with id and title "ttt"...)  yabadabadooo  out of luck   yabadabadooo  out of luck  ...and the same with id and title of any folder. I suspect Zope is that I cannot make any test on "id"... this compells me to always provide a title to a doc if I want to test for its existence... Max Murdock

Upgrade Difficulties from 1.9 to 1.10.

I am trying to migrate my Data.bbb file from my 1.9 installation to a new 1.10 installation. I get a "Sorry, a SERIOUS APPLICATION ERROR occurred." message. In the source of the page, it has the following: ========================================================= <html> <head> <title>exceptions.ImportError</title> </head> <body> Sorry, a SERIOUS APPLICATION ERROR occurred.<p>  </body> </html> ========================================================= Before this, I shutdown the Zope process on the 1.10 server and copied the Data.bbb.old file from a Pack operation on the 1.9 server. I renamed it to Data.bbb. Should this work? Does anyone know how to solve this one? Thanks, John Solberg

Fellow Zopesters, Here is a short tutorial on using the tree tag for global navigation in your site. Step 1: Create an external method with the following code: def getFoldersOnly(self): """Return a list of only the Folders contained in an object, for use by the tree tag""" return self.objectValues(['Folder']) This is neccesary in order to avoid listing the product and acl_users folder objects. Thanks to Kent Polk for the code. Modify this code if you want to display something other than just folders, For example: Step 2: Create a DTML method named SideBar in your root folder with the following code:  <A HREF="/"></A>  Notice that we are generating absolute URL's. Thanks to Kent Polk and Martijn Pieters for this code. Step 3: Call SideBar with the following code from anywhere in your site using this code:  And voila! it should display a tree of your entire site structure! Thanks to Amos Latteier for this deceptively simple code snippet. I hope this helps others who may have been struggling with this. Michael Bernstein

No, idea. All I can say is I just went from 1.9 to 1.10.2, and all I did was copy the Data.bbb* files from 1.9 to 1.10.2, and bring it up. It came up with no complaints, so it is probably due to something specific in the contents of your database, and not anything general. I suggest using 'manageExportHack' or whatever that was in 1.9, then taking the bbe file and using 1.10's Import facility. As I understand it, manageExportHack flattens the current state of the database, losing the old versions and the undo ability. This might be a bad thing in some cases, but it might make your database more palatable. DTML Methods v. Documents

Since I just got caught in this one ;-) Is there any way to insert the RESULTS of a DTML Method into a DTML document (so namespaces are munged correctly)... basically... I've got a DTMLMethod dtFoo and I wont the RESULTS of it to be inserted into the document, but  obviously doesn't work. Splitting the Zope mailling

As several people have pointed out, the traffic on the Zope mailing list is too heavy for comfort. We propose dealing with this by splitting off a separate list, zope-dev(a)zope.org, for handling developer-specific issues, leaving the current Zope(a)zope.org list for user oriented issues. To clarify, here are some examples of the way i see the division of topics: zope(a)zope.org zope-dev(a)zope.org ------------- ----------------- installation and operation dtml coding questions and hints content management using the programmer APIs desired user-level features new and existing architecture design business decisions contributed widgets w.r.t. open source public relations in general These are off the top of my head - and i'm relatively new to the community, so i'm quite open to suggestions about what belongs where. Overall question is, does the split make sense in principle? Please speak up particularly if you have objections.
