Phillip, Thanks for your kindness, you got a point. I checked and the first row of the file "downloaded" starts with "array('c', ... and then all the strange chars Also, I tried to put an external method like this: ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= def makeImage(self, photo): return photo[0].iconblob.tostring() (notice the ".tostring()" in the end) and call this external method from my python script In this case the downloaded file does not start like that but still results not recognizable. I tried to open it with Safari abd it shows a empty withe screen Well, at least the tostring() changed the output but still I can't see the pic. I saw a page suggesting to use an external methos like that and I wonder why the http://www.zope.org/Members/murphy/MySQL-BLOBs page doesn't suggest this too. The fact is - I don'y understand the difference in the output. Dear Zope friends, I can't manage my Zope to correctly serve an image retrieved from a MySql table. If the thing has been discussed already, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find so much help, on line. I followed indications at http://www.zope.org/Members/murphy/MySQL-BLOBs I have the following ZSQLMethod, named "trovaImmagine" (in Italian that means findImage) select iconmimetype, iconblob from webs where <dtml-sqltest id op="eq" type="int"> Then, I have a Python script (displayImage2) # Return a string identifying this script. record = context.trovaImmagine(id = 1) data = record[0].iconblob contentType = record[0].iconmimetype RESPONSE.setHeader('content-type', contentType) return data #return len(data) #return contentType The commented returns are some tests I made. When I comment the "return data" part and uncomment the "return contentType" OR "return len(data)", it seems to work correctly BUT when I try to return "data" I obtain a message error from FireFox, saying: "The image "http://localhost:8080/sql/displayImage2" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors." I tyied with Safari and it downloads a "displayImage2" file , I rename it to displayImage2.jpg, I try to open it with the Apple viewer (Anteprima in Italian, I don't remember in English) AND it says me that the file is not a jpeg file as it seems. CMFBTreeFolder Behavior

Hi. I am working with the CMFBTreeFolder for the first time. I thought it would make sense since I am wanting to use this type for an uploads folder. There may be thousands of objects. Once files have been uploaded to the folder, I am running a script to pull out images using a for statement like this: # Iterate over folder contents for name, obj in start_dir.objectItems(['Portal Image']): and then executing some logic on the images afterwards. I am planning to cron the script unless I can figure a way to execute the logic as files are coming into the folder (which would be the best - so any ideas here would be great). In any case, what happens is that about half the objects get processed with each run of the script. For example if I had 1030 objects about half gets processed, and then half of that and so on. I may take 4 runs to get everything processed in the folder. On a normal Folder or CMF Portal Folder, all objects get processed in one run. Maybe this is what it is supposed to do and I should loop my logic and test each time or something. Can someone give me some insight on this. Is this normal ? Or should I be using anything else to process all objects of a certain type in my BTreeFolder (so I know I am getting them all) on one pass. Regards, David

Zope X3 vs. Zope 2.7.4

Ape and Zope 2.7.x

Hello, I am trying to install Ape on my Windows XP box. I use Zope 2.7 (2.7.0 I think it is) and Ape 1.0, with Instance Homes. Before attempting to install Ape, I made sure that the Zope install and the instance home worked. After putting Ape in the $INSTANCE/Products folder, adding the FS-mapper configuration part from components.xml to zope.conf: %import Products.Ape <ape-db fs> <ape-storage> mapper-variation filesystem <ape-fs-connection fs> basepath $INSTANCE/var/myfs </ape-fs-connection> </ape-storage> mount-point /fs scan-interval 10 </ape-db> and then I try to restart Zope, but get the following error: Error: could not load package Products.Ape: No module named Ape For help, use C:\Program Files\Plone 2\Zope\lib\python\Zope\Startup\run.py -h so, apparently it can't find the Products folder or the Ape module in it. url path remainder as a script parameter?

I'm trying to provide a Zope interface for an existing photo album application that has an XML-RPC interface. The application contains a very large number of pictures that can by queried in various ways (time, event, featured people, etc.). I do not want to create Zope folders, but I do want the URLs to suggest that the pictures are stored in a folder hierarchy. For instance: http://abc.com/photos - this is root of photo archive http://abc.com/photos/<person> - a person-specific photo album - presenting available years http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year> - a person-specific, year-specific album - presenting available months http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year>/<month> - a person-specific, month-specific album - presenting available days http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year>/<month>/<day> - a person-specific, day-specific album - presenting available thumbs http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year>/<month>/<day>/<pic number> - a pic... It seems clear that I need to add a something to the Zope root having the id "photos", but is it a Python Script or a Product? I tried creating a Product and setting the __getitem__ method, but it didn't work. While I know the Zope-way is to store the objects in the Zope database, surely what I am trying to do is not uncommon either - so how do people normally do this? Thanks! Kent
