Zope service stopped

Hi, I have a problem. I'm running Zope on Windows 2K and one day it just didn't want to start. There is no info in zope or system log. It just dosn't start. I tried to install a new fresh Zope-2.7.4 installation, change ports it's running, reinstall a service. No change. Of course runzope.bat starts without a problem :] I found some info about the same problem, but not a clear answer. The only suggested solution was to check entry in registry. I did so. Everything seems to be fine. And I just found that: >PythonService.exe -debug Zope_myzopeservicenumber works fine! Any ideas? Pawel Lewicki

ZInformixDA problem

Hi everybody, this is my first email to the list. I'm trying to install ZInformixDA on Zope2.7.3 and python 2.3, and in the README says that I need the informixdb1.3 package. I've download the package but when I do the make and make install this is the error reported: make: *** No rule to make target 'boot'. Stop Has anybody some experience on this case? Thanks, Nico

Can't access my zope product functions by URL

I have made my first attempts on developing my own products in Python and I have a problem I can't find any solution to. My problem is that I can't access functions in my product by the URL. I have tried to find what's wrong for several days now, but I can't really find anything. I have used the boring-product example product as base for my tries and my initialization is pretty much the same. My "__init__.py" file registers a class called RSSFeed and just as the boring-product it currently only contains functions to add the object to the Zope object-DB, view the object and change the title. When the user changes the title it uses a form that calls the function manage_edit(). The problem is that when I do that I get a 404 error telling that the file "http://www.myserver.org/test/myobject/manage_edit" doesn't exist. What makes my hair fading to gray is that my code for this is almost identical to the boring-product example and there it works! One major difference is that I call the "security.declareProtected()" function to register my function and boring-product uses an "__ac_permissions__" list instead. But I declare my function access rights just as all other products I've looked at. Also other functions I make in my product and declares the same way gives the 404 error. One interesting thing is that I can call them from inside my index.dtml file for the product, by doing <dtml-var function>-calls. I guess I have missed something with the security settings, but I can't find what it is. Please help me if you can, I am getting insane trying to find it myself. kInterbaseDA multiple connection

Hello list, this is my first post here. I'm running Zope connected to Firebird with kinterbasDA. DB admin has recently told me that there were two active connections to the base under Zope user while there's only one instance of database adapter. I've checked it by running netstat -a on Zope host, here's the output -- tcp 0 0 zope_host:41838 db_host:gds_db ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 zope_host:41042 db_host:gds_db ESTABLISHED -- The second connections appears short time after Zope restarts, so either DA or kinterbase itself seems to lose active connection. What's more interesting is that number of connections doesn't grow anymore remaining at point of 2. Has anyone encountered similar problem? I'm using Zope 2.7.2, python 2.3.4 on debian kinterbasdb 3.1pre9 kinterbaseDA 2.0 Firebird 1.5 PS Sorry for my poor english :)

mmmm... I thought that thre was one cache per connection to Zeo ?? A standard Zope instance with Zeo has 4 connections to Zeo, and when you look at the cache status, it is different for each connection (different number of objects). So I am not sure that there is anything shared accross connections. If I am right, then it makes no real difference to have many Zope with one connection to Zeo vs. one Zope with many connections to Zeo. Debugging a running or deadlocked Zope http://www.zope.org/Members/nuxeo/Products/DeadlockDebugger This product adds a hook so that a deadlocked Zope process can be debugged, by dumping a traceback of all running python processes. The dump is sent to the event log (at the DEBUG level) and returned to the browser (even though the Zope is deadlocked and doesn't answer any other requests!). DeadlockDebugger can of course also be used to debug Zope in non-deadlock situations, when a Zope process is taking a long time and you wish to know what code is being executed. I'm not sure of how the internals of refresh work (I dont use it) but I suspect that if you do something like: import sys if not getattr(sys, 'ZEROCONF_STARTED'): .. start the thread .. sys.ZEROCONF_STARTED = 1 It will not spawn another thread. Ok, so, this almost completely answers my question. Let me tell you more about what I am doing, because I agree that my initial mail was not that clear. :) I am trying to implement a ZeroConf browser (http://www.zeroconf.org/) in Zope to automatically get the network location of XML RPC services that my Zope objects talk to. The ZMI part is easy. In my new product, I've got my object in the Control Panel, and it is ready to display whatever data I want (for example the list of discovered services). The ZeroConf implementation itself has already been made by someone else (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyzeroconf) So I am just trying to plug pieces together now :) >From my product, I need to start a thread that will run the ZeroConf code, and ZeroConf data will then be accessible through a particular object of this code (the "listener" to be exact, as they call it in pyzeronf). This thread should be started when Zope starts, so I guess I can put it in the __init__.py of my product. I only got one issue : my product can be refreshed. So how can I ensure that the ZeroConf stuff won't be re-initialized if I refresh my product ? (ending with 2 threads, with one of the threads not being used). Plone site has disappeared

I built a plone site a few weeks ago and haven't touched zope since. Now when I try loading the site it has disappeared. Is there any analysis I can do of Data.fs to see whether it is burried away somewhere? -- John
