It works for me. But I use PWS 4.0 instead of IIS 4.0. Any error messages? Does it work with ZopeHTTPserver? Newbie DTML question

Hi again, Is it possible to create a variable under DTML and assign it a value? I can figure out how to assign the properties of a document or folder, but I cannot figure out how to assign a value to a one-off variable that I need temporarily. I have messed around with _.namespace(), but nothing I do there seems to work correctly. Also, it seems that it is possible to create an indirect variable when doing forms processing e.g., <td> <B></B> </td> <td> <select name= size=1>  <option>  </select> </td> As far as I can tell I'm creating a select box named with whatever happens to be stored in Category at the moment. Tiny Table Question

Hail Zope Folk, Well, I bit the bullet, couldn't get Zope to work reliably on my notebook using Win95, so I installed Linux at both the home and the office and got Zope working on it in both places, I'm a complete Linux Neophyte and while my understanding of what Zope does and how it works is increasing quite rapidly, I fear I have quite the climb ahead of me. I'm working on a project that has a table of about 100-120 items I thought about trying to make MySQL work, but decided it would slow down my initial release too much, so since TinyTable works with small sets of data, I thought I would use it. It appears to be working ok, but I have a lot of questions. It appears from my perusal of the Advanced tab that the Tiny Table can use a Python class as a data source, however, on checking through the source for Tiny Table, I can find no mention of how to make use for this feature. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, is it possible to update a Tiny Table under dtml control? XEmacs/NT

Hi all. This post is only marginally related to Zope. Now that Zope supports ftp, it may be of some interest. I've just discovered a beta port of XEmacs/NT. It supports efs, (remote ftp editing) and auto-converts between Unix and DOS format files: http://www.nj1.aae.com/~cwaldman/xemacs/ It feels less clunky than NTEmacs in a Windows environment. I wonder if some of the effort spent on hacking DTML would justify writing an emacs mode for it. For myself, I'm reasonably happy with pretending DTML == HTML, for editing purposes. Zope in Virtual Host on ISP

OK. Here's the deal. Can someone tell me what issues I face trying to install Zope in my ISP-hosted virtual Apache. I have no access to root, and have been through much pain and suffering trying to get the thing installed. Ideally, a step-by-step how-to is what I'm looking for, but I'd welcome anything up to and including "ya can't do that." NOTE: This is not an authentication question. I look forward to the day I'm asked to authenticate. <cha-grin> Alternatively, I could prolly ask the admin to install it for me, but to be honest, I'm not even sure what to ask. I'm relatively comfortable in unix, but haven't dealt with Apache much at all, aside from uploading pages and cgis. Here's hoping there's a simple answer. Thanks much, Chris Larson Changeling, Inc

Parameter entities can only be used in the DTD, while character entities are to be used in the document. Using a character entity is the right way to go. Anyway, as Amos said, the "store" construct _is_ a hack. And not only for esthetic reasons I'm not too happy with it myself. But since what you, Chris, are doing is patching the existing DTML rather than a redesigning it, this should be an acceptable workaround for the attribute problem. In the long run, I agree that DTML should evolve to be fully XML compliant. I don't want to comment on Paul Prescod's XSL-syntax proposal until I know more about XSL (and reread the discussion he mentioned). Anyway, the DTML engine _is_ a (pre-)processor, so on first thought it seems quite "natural" to use PI's here (tempting enough, since these are quite rare animals in Joe Tagger's boring life :-). On the other hand, XSL and other rendering engines are processors as well, so... I think I shut up and think about this some more...
