Brad, (sorry about not quoting Brad, we're still in the throws of mail server hell) We've kicked around the idea of an ExternalFile object, and I started a small project that fizzed out. My question was where to draw the line, do we make it a simple pipe to one file, or a Folderoid object that 'mounts' a part of a filesystem into Zope? The first would be pretty simple, the second would be pretty hard, IMO. Out of curiosity, what would byte ranging buy you? Do some clients request ranges? I think I read about this in the HTTP 1.1 spec... Michel PS We used to use WorldSock on the ISP I worked at a few years ago, I chuckled a bit when I saw you on our list, cuz I'm familiar with your products like your getting familiar with ours. ;)

Packing ...error and read-only mode

Zope 1.90 on Linux RH 5.2 Base installation Had been "up" for almost 6 days. In the process of editing an index_html page there was an apparent time out that would not let me save "Change". (when using IE4/PC to LAN to Zope/Linux) Thinking there was a problem with the database, I tried to Pack it (older than 0 days) and received a: "Sorry, an error occurred." I went back to work on the index_html and again tried to save but got this: "Attempt to perform a write operation while the database is in read-only mode. " Using the control panel "shutdown" didn't help. I then went to the Linux and did a ./stop ./start and all is well. I still can't pack the database even though I can continue editing. I assume that the pack routine is getting stuck and leaving the database in the read-only mode. *Where do I look for the source of the pack problem? *I'm concerned about data integrity: Do ../var/data.bbb files become corrupted? If so, are there tools to fix it? (bob is still thinking *.dbf tables) How does one "Browse" or View the data.bbb file? Thanks in advance for helping a newbee. Folder properties question and a solution

ok, yet another stupid query :) I have a site layout like so: foldera> foldera.1> foldera.2> folderb> and I have properties set for foldera> In foldera.1> i have a document wherein I use the #in tag, but it doesn't seem to have access to the foldera> properties. Now, from reading the manual, it seems that properties are supposed to propigate through to all objects in a folder. So why doesn't a document in a subfolder have the property list from the above folder? or am I missing something? -------------- solution for spanning a table with entries from a property list of tokens. I have been trying to populate a 2 column table with entries from a property list, but was just not having any luck. Then, hidden in a footnotish bit of text in one of the manuals, I noticed a small blurb about the "-even" tag to sequence-index TADA -- instantly my problem was no more -- the code looks like this if anyone else is trying to do something similar: <TABLE BORDER=0 WIDTH="100%">   <TR> <TD> <INPUT type="checkbox" name="project" value="">  </TD>  <TD> <INPUT type="checkbox" name="project" value="">  </TD> </TR>   </TABLE> I'm slowly coming to realize that Zope is really powerful NOT just for the ease at which it can do interfacing with databases and structuring of site hierarchies, but also for the really cool layout stuff you can make VERY easy with it as well. -daw --------------------------------------------- A computer without Microsoft products is like a dog without bricks chained to its head ---------------------------------------------

Tree Tag Options

I am looking for a list of available methods for the 'tree' tag, particularly those for the branches attribute. The DTML guide lists two: 'tpValues' as the default, 'and objectValues' in the example. Are there any others? Michael.

SQL Methods - tokens or list parameters

Hi all - I've got a form feeding an SQL insert query where I need to be able to allow the user to enter a list of items into a single form entry, which is parsed by the SQL method into multiple 'insert' commands into a table. I want to do this in the SQL Method, rather than my action page, to avoid one level of calls. This looks like a job for a param:list type parameter, and a #in param block, but I haven't been able to get that to work. My comma separated list ends up being treated as a single item list. So, I decided to try the param:tokens trick - this worked great, with a space separated list, but fails when there's only one item entered - that returns a string, which gives me a "can't use a string with #in" error. Any ideas?
