Please reply to the list. 1. If you enter the full Zope path - bypassing the rewrite rule into your browser, do you get the desired result? If not, the rewrite rule isn't your problem and you're parsing your querystring badly. 2. Have you switched on the rewrite log to see what the rewrite is doing with your URLs? If it's not creating the full Zope path you need, then the rule needs fixing. Call me an over-simplifying old fool but I can't see how it can be other than one of these. Using ZEO for remote access

I want to use Zope as an application server and was thinking to connect to Zope from the clients, by using ZEO. This will give me remote access to the objects in a more powerfull way than using XML-RPC. I have tried the following code to get a connection to a running ZEO instance (the setup works, as a Zope Instance can connect to the ZEO server): from ZEO.ClientStorage import ClientStorage cs = ClientStorage([('localhost', 9999)]) The code blocks at the creation of the ClientStorage and never returns. Am I on the right path, or is there a better way to connect to a running ZEO instance from Python code? Thanks Etienne

Hi, I do not exactly know when and how this started to happen, but I can not add any local key in zopes config file anymore. When I do, I get an error: The specified locale "de_CH" is not supported by your system This seems to be related to security upgrades of the Linux used (SuSE 9.1). One of the boxes runs since a couple a monts without a zope restart. If I do zopectrl status I get mentioned error. On an other box I had to comment the local setings out in order to be able to start zope. What could be the reason? And where should I look for a solution? Robert

Transience read conflicts

We are seeing occasional read conflicts in Transcience. Traceback (innermost last): [...]] Module Products.PythonScripts.PythonScript, line 323, in _exec Module None, line 6, in setSessionVariable - <PythonScript at /setSessionVariable used for /questionbanks/questionbank_edit/queries> - Line 6 AssertionError: Assignment to "currentQuestionBank" failed database read conflict error (oid 0x1205, class Products.Transience.TransientObject.TransientObject) Zope 2.7.3 Pythn 2.3 Transcience apparently throws an exception rather than serialize. Is that a bug? Is this a bug?

Asked for authentication when reading property after upgrade from 2.6 to 2.7

This problem occurs in a project that works perfectly with ZOPE 2.6. After the upgrade to ZOPE 2.7.4 the user is asked for permission when ZClass code references a property defined in a property sheet. More detailed: A tal command of a ZPT inside a ZClass tries to access a property that is defined in a property sheet of the same ZClass, but is - of course - given a value in the instance of the class. In ZOPE 2.7.4 the user is asked to authenticate, and if he cancels authentication he gets the message: "Error > Value: You are not allowed to access 'teillisten_laenge' in this context". where teillisten_laenge is the property in question. This is just one example - the problem seems to occur in all similar cases. Here's the code fragment that tries to read the value of teillisten_laenge: <span tal:define="listen_laenge here/propertysheets/listenstil/teillisten_laenge"> <span tal:define="sort_kriterium string:id"> ... </span> </span> Someone confronted with the same problem? Seems to be a bug, or could it be wanted behaviour? Any proposals for a workaround? Thanks, Uli

links with accents in structered texts (Plone)

Hi all, some of you probably use Plone and structured texts. Well, I'm from Brazil and Portuguese has words with accents. In structured texts, links can be created using the format: "name-that-appears-to-the-user":link Very well, but when the part between quotations marks has a word with an accent, plone does not recognize the text as a link but as a regular text. I'v tried change the default_charset in: portal_properties/site_properties to utf-8, iso-8859-1, iso-8859-15 and cp037 but didn´t work. utf-8 works very well in every other contents in the site, I mean all accents are right, except when I use in links. Maybe I have to set up the zope charset. I've tried some times but it was unsuccessful. Any idea? Thanks, . Fabio .

Uninteligible error messages

Quite often, the error messages from zope are not helpful (IMHO). For example, does anyone know why doing this in a python script: script.manage_addProperty("test","null/null/null","date") gives the error: AttributeError: SyntaxError instance has no attribute 'replace' But a differently-bad date, like this: script.manage_addProperty("test","null","date") gives the error: IndexError: string index out of range Neither of which is particularly helpful at diagnosing the error. Why can't it return something like "DateException could not convert string to date" Does this count as a bug that should go in collector? Robert (Jamie) Munro

What kind of attributes can be put inside a simple item

Hi all. I'm little surprised by the possibility to insert non-persistent instances inside persistent object. I mean: class Alfa: def __init__(self): self.x = 1 self.y = 2 class Beta(SimpleItem): def __init__(self): self.id = 'anId' self.anAlfa = Alfa() I always understood that I could not put Alfa instances inside a Beta class, because the ZODB machinery did not understood how to pickle them. But I did some experiments recently, and it looks like the above example should work. Could anyone provide some insight on this topic? Thanks Regards Marco
