- trouble upgrading....

Greetings Fellow Zopers, I've been using Zope-1.9.0b2 on a linux machine without any problems, but when I tried to upgrade to Zope-1.9.0b3, I ran into trouble: Zope refuses to start up. The sequence of commands I've followed is: cd /usr/local/dc gzip -d </home/root2/Zope-1.9.0b3-linux2-x86.tar.gz | tar xvof - rename the directory 'Zope-1.9.0b3' to 'Zope' cd Zope ./install -srcflagg:******** -u www -g www ./start I was able to reinstall Zope-1.9.0b2, so my site is still running but I'm anxious to start to use the database methods. Thanks for any help you can give, Bob

- random content generation example

I would like to pump SGML and XML files through various external converters (sometimes Python, sometimes not) when they are submitted as content. Is there some obvious way to hook these converters into Zope? Okay, what started off as a simple post has brought us to the edge of where Bobo left off and Zope begins. One issue to be addressed is how to combine the raw power and flexibility of pure Bobo within the Zope framework. I think Amos' experimental External Objects (12/14/98) is one attempt to address this issue. I confess: Although I can see the overwhelming usefulness of Zope in distributing the "web-construction-maintenance" portion of the workload to users (esp. non-programmers -- no mean feat), I'm still uncertain as to how I can apply it all programatically (i.e. without bci/ZPublisher.Client) with the ease I've enjoyed using Bobo. - type codes in Searchable Object Interface

The Searchable Object Interface documentation at: http://www.digicool.com/site/PrincipiaDeveloperPack/SearchableObjectInterfa… says that fields are types "s", "n", "i", or "d", but doesn't explain what these are. Looking at the b3 ZSQL source, "s" is string, "d" is date, "n" is "number", and "i" seems unused. I though perhaps "n" was for floats and "i" for integers, but since "i" is unused, should I use "n" for both?
