I can run a secure Zope using pcgi and Apache-SSL. Anyone know of a way how to have ZopeHTTPServer do SSL? I don't want to allow management over insecure channels so is it possible to use a rewrite/URL refresh rule in Zope for /manage (it should redirect to https:) -- <- Ronald Offerman | ron(a)gjt-it.nl <- Root Powered Carrot Munchers Ltd. - Bug in sample product?

There's either a small bug in SampleProduct, or my zope install is loopy. It *looks* like the service failed to start up -- do you by any chance have an existing python installed (esp. a 1.5.2 alpha)? In any event, if you did not choose to install Zope as a service, you will not be able to get to it via IIS anyway. The easiest way to figure out what's going on here is for you to: 1. stop the 'ted' service and make sure it is set as 'disabled' or 'manual' start in the NT service manager. 2. run the serve.bat script in your ted installation to start the built-in server. 3. try to access 'http://localhost:8080/manage'. If you fail to access the management screen, send me the exact contents of the reply the browser gives you (by doing 'view source'). I agree. There are already a good number of XSL processors that can do their job far better than we could. We can publish objects out to XML and hand it over to the XSL much more easily (and with better results). I think our XML focus should stay on the exchange of data (input/output) rather than the formatting.

Paul, I don't use Win95 (or Win98) so the following advice could be totally bogus, but you should have a file on your system: C:\windows\hosts If it's called hosts.sam, copy or rename it to hosts. The file should have a line in it that looks something like: 127.0.0.1 localhost If you add an entry that matches what BaseHTTPServer.py considers to be host, you should be okay. I've just started playing around with Zope and the Plutonia example so I don't know enough to figure this one out: I defined the standard_html_header as follows : ---start of standard_html_header-------- <HTML><HEAD> <TITLE></TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF"> <P></P> ---end of standard_html_header-------- and in each of the the folders News, Products and Research, there an index_html (e.g. title : Plutonia News) with the following text (or something like it) : -----start of index_html---------  <H2> </H2> <P> Welcome to Plutonia News Section!</P> <P> We don't have any news items to report yet though. </P>  -----end of index_html--------- When the page is rendered, the document_title is displayed correctly as <H2> Plutonia News </H2>. However the standard_html_header template expansion has this quirky behavior : the PlutoniaLogo is translated correctly into PlutoniaLogo but the document_title in between the <TITLE> tags is empty! If there is no recursive expansion of variables, is there anyway I can put a dynamically evaluated variable in the standard_html_header so that it displays the correct title? When installed on W32 selecting IIS as the server - the install script fails to create Zope.cgi. Checking the code - it should come from inst/product_install.pyc. How do I run this? John Totten
