python/ retrieving JPG from folder

Hi all ! My zope config : Zope 2.6.4 (binary release, python2.1, win32-x86) I want to read the content of a folder (localfs) that contains pictures (JPG) to create thumbnails for these pictures. Nb : < remote > is the name of my zope local file system. for item in context.remote.fileValues(): print item.id return printed gives as result : Chateau.jpg Paradise.jpg Which is right. for item in context.remote.fileValues(): context.makethumbnail(item) gives the error message that you find below. (attribute error read) The < makethumbnail > external method has been tested and works FINE ! If I give as parameter for this method the result of <input type="file" name= ...... >, a thumnail is well created. So the problem is : what's the right way to give the picture itself listed in the folder contents, as parameter in my python code ???? Any help greatly appreciated ! Regards, Philippe. Thanks for your proposal of the "photo and photo folder" product. I'll surely use it as I don't see any other possibility. But the goal was to know the bloody way to get the content of a picture and provide it as a parameter to a method. I can't believe it's not possible within Python as I'm so close to the solution ! for item in context.remote.fileValues(): context.makethumbnail(??item??) nb: item.id gives the name of the picture. I need to reach the content, i mean the picture itself. Question involving passing optional parameters to a zsql method

I have a form with 7 checkboxes. The more checkboxes are selected the more narrow of results you will get. I created a zsql method that will handle every case as far as when to include 'AND','OR', and '()'. The problem now is getting my form to execute the zsql method correctly. When I hit the submit button the boxes that are not check will trigger an error message stating that the variable was not defined. I am trying to figure out when I hit the submit button my dtml method that runs the zsql method is not written to adjust for empty parameters. I had originally called my function like this: <dtml-call expr="findResults(location1=location1, location2=location2, ..., usetype1=usetype1, usetype2=usetype2,...,active=active)"> Does anyone have an idea on how to call this function regardless of what boxes are checked? thanks.

Products, Debug manager, and refcounts

Hello list, I've done large amounts of googling on the subject, but I can't find any simple explanation of what the Debug Manager is actually telling me concerning refcounts. It's clear from various sources that, if between REQUESTs one sees a significant jump for a particular type's refcount, there's clearly a problem. (Please feel free to correct me if this is an oversimplification.) What's not clear is what one should normally expect. I make use of some python modules from Zope, generally using the following pattern: [python script] from Products.MyProduct import facademodule try: result = facademodule.doSomething(inputParams) return result finally: del facademodule [facademodule.py] def doSomething(inputParams): import coremodule coreObject = coremodule.CoreClass() try: resultValue = coreObject.doSomething(inputParams) returnValue = {'resultValue':resultValue} del resultValue return returnValue finally: del coreObject del coremodule In the above example, I'm making hyper-vigilant use of 'del' to avoid keeping unneccessary references around. The facademodule's job is simply to send back the results of operations using primitive builtin types (int, list, dictionary) - because a) I don't want my user interface dependent on the coreObjects' structure; b) coremodule should be reusable outside the Zope process; and c) I don't want obsolete object references floating around. After all this, however, I go to the Debug Manager and see that with every REQUEST to a page which makes use of this pattern somewhere, the refcounts for all manner of coremodule's Classes involved in the facademodule's work appear to be incremented by 1. (ex. after a REQUEST using the above pattern I'll see the reference count for Products.MyProduct.coremodule.CoreClass go up by 1.) So, is this normal and expected? Or is it more likely that circular references in my code are causing the instances to be left hanging around? Is there some other approach that's recommended for using my own objects (residing outside of ZODB) and not bloating RAM, however slowly this may happen? Thanks for any clues, Jim

HTTPServer exception - illegal argument

Hi all, after having had Zope up and running for about an hour, it dies with the following exception. I was wondering if you could point me to common problems that can result in this? I'm running it inside a FreeBSD 5.3-BETA jail, using Python 2.3.4 with large stack support, Zope 2.6.2 (CMF 1.3.2) from ports. Issue using Apache 2 behind Zope2.7 and Virtual Host

Hello to you all I try to use Zope 2.7.x behind Apache 2.0.x under Linux (kernel 2.6.x) - Mandrake 10 . Zope works fine alone : ip 192.168.1.1 on port 8090/myzopeinstance Apache works fine alone : ip 192.168.1.1 on port 80 I've create under Linux other IP addresses (i.e. 192.168.1.10) on the same NIC and all works fine. I want to call the virtual IP adress 192.168.1.10:80 and access to my Zope instance (it will be the only address and port number that appear in the browser, due to security reason across the routers), but I have only the text in my web page. My pictures don't appear, and when I clic to some links on my web page, the browser (Mozilla) tells me : the document contains no data. Have I forgoten some "aliases" ? For testing, i've tried to do the same stuff with "manage" instead of "myzopeinstance" and I've in my browser only the 3 blank frames, with three times "the document contains no data" (but first the browser ask me the login and password). Where am I wrong ? Can you help me please ? On my Zope instance I've declared VirtualHostMonster with nothing else.
