I've got an application that sort of looks like this: def _fooLogin(self, u, p): if self.SQLTestLogin(u=u, p=p): self.REQUEST.SESSION.set('_loggedin', self.SQLUserFoo(u)) return 1 return 0 def mylogin(self, u, p): if self._fooLogin(u, p): return str(self.REQUEST.SESSION.id) Then in another context but under the same zope instance, this id that mylogin() returns will be passed to another method. That other method should try to get the session object back if not expired. How do I do that? I was hoping for something like this:: def getMyGirlfriends(self, sessionid): session = self.GetSessionById(sessionid) if session.get('_loggedin'): return ... Does anybody know how to do this? WebDAV and Virtual Hosting

I am currently running Zope in a shared hosting arrangement. Apache is acting as the front end proxy and doing re-writes for the 2 Plone Sites I have inside my Zope installation. My Directory structure looks something like Root - Plone (default site) - www.domain1.com <http://www.domain1.com/> - www.domain2.com <http://www.domain2.com/> With apache dealing with my rewrites the following works properly http://www.domain1.com:80/ <http://www.domain1.com/> -> renders /www.domain1.com/ http://www.domain2.com:80/ <http://www.domain2.com/> -> renders /www.domain2.com/ However webdav requests end up http://www.domain1.com:9800/ -> renders /Plone http://www.domain2.com:9800/ -> renders /Plone Structurally I have Root - Virtual Host Monster (no mappings) - Plone (default site) o SiteRoot (blank) - www.domain1.com <http://www.domain1.com/> - www.domain2.com <http://www.domain2.com/> I've tried a half dozen combinations of SiteRoots and Virtual Host monsters in various folders with various mappings. The only way I actually get WebDAV clients like Macromedia Contribute to find the files over port 9800 is if I restructure the directory completely and change the apache rewrites to look like this Root - Virtual Host Monster (no mappings) - Plone (default site) o SiteRoot (blank) o www.domain1.com <http://www.domain1.com/> o www.domain2.com <http://www.domain2.com/> http://www.domain1.com:80/ <http://www.domain1.com/> -> renders /Plone/www.domain1.com/ http://www.domain2.com:80/ <http://www.domain2.com/> -> renders /Plone/www.domain2.com/ http://www.domain1.com:9800/ -> renders /Plone (however /www.domain1.com can be appended to the initial request and it works) http://www.domain1.com:9800/ -> renders /Plone (however /www.domain2.com can be appended to the initial request and it works) I can edit everything fine in my clients, but it's ugly and doesn't provide the "backup" I like having of the default site not being tied to either one of the hosted domains. It also makes the config for the users a little ugly. Currently APACHE is not running with webdav support set up, so I'm looking for a solution that allows for the following without touching the APACHE config since that's handled by the hosting company. Image as a Property of a ZClass

I have created a ZClass, "BookReview", as a subclass of ZDTMLDocument to hold book reviews. The document ("raw" property) contains the review, and I have created a property sheet, "Properties", to contain variables such as: -bookTitle -bookAuthor -bookPageLength -reviewer The BookReview class has a method, "index_html", that orchestrates this information into a standardized presentation. I would like to add the ability to add an image of the book cover to the property sheet, similar to the way that someone can add an icon to a ZClass in the basic view. The closest thing I have seen is adding the ObjectManager class to the base of "BookReview" and creating a method to upload a file into it. This however does not allow our writers/editors to accomplish this task from within the Properties view of the instance of "BookReview" they just created. Any advice, direction, or better method would be appreciated.

Memory Leak?

We have a site that 'eats' memory. Within hours of a restart it consumes 600+ MB of RAM. It's a busy, but not hugely busy site. It's running the following: Python 2.3.3/Zope 2.7.0/Plone It has installed (and uses) several products, including CMFPhoto, CMFPhotoAlbum, CMFBoard and others. Taking a look in the Control Panel and the Debug information I show a a lot of the following type of Refcounts: DateTime.DateTime.DateTime: 63436 Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper: 42944 BTreee.IIBTree.IIBTree: 11363 BTrees.IOBTree.IOBucket: 10169 Products.PageTemplates.Expressions.SubPathExpr: 9391 Persistence.PersistentMapping: 6522 BTrees.OOBTree.OOBucket: 6322 (and others) These numbers are only after 10 hours of use or so. And the top two refcounts continue to grow by the hundreds and thousands. Is there probably a memory leak somewhere? Zope 2.7.3b3 Change

I am about to upgrade from 2.6.3 to 2.7.3b3. I note in the change log -- o Make TransientObjectContainer __setstate__ actually work. Upgrades should be flawless from Zope 2.7.0, 2.7.1, and 2.7.2. Upgrades from 2.6.3 will work, but data may not be retained. I am not sure what the implications are here. Can someone explain?

Docs on zope config

Where do I find a list of options available for zope.conf? I found a sample.conf in the zdaemon directory, but when using that gave me error msgs about 'runner' being an unknown type name. It's the only file I've seen which suggests how 'socket-name' can be set. -- John

Turns out the error was caused by putting quotes around a word in the Title Section of an item. I removed them and replaced it with single-quotes and it worked perfectly. Well, all you need stands out very clear in the error message ;) the Character u'\u201c' burried somewhere in a string you want to output, has an ordinal number of 8220. And 8220 is far bigger then 256 - which is the upper bound for latin-1 alphabet. Just remove it or read on at: >>> help(u"".encode) Help on built-in function encode: encode(...) S.encode([encoding[,errors]]) -> string Return an encoded string version of S. Default encoding is the current default string encoding. errors may be given to set a different error handling scheme. Default is 'strict' meaning that encoding errors raise a UnicodeEncodeError. Other possible values are 'ignore', 'replace' and 'xmlcharrefreplace' as well as any other name registered with codecs.register_error that can handle UnicodeEncodeErrors. you can explicitely use yourstring.encode("iso-8859-1",'ignore') or some of the other options above. Does anyone know what needs to be done when receiving this error? UnicodeEncodeError 'latin-1' codec can't encode character u'\u201c' in position 69622: ordinal not in range(256) I have been searching online but I have not gotten a solid resolution. Thanks In Advance, Laura
