I'm not too sure about any problems with OpenBSD there might be. Try pinning this down to a particular event, as I'm willing to bet that it will be fairly impossible (and very time consuming) to debug what's happening from what you've said. Cheers, David

However, I want my <a> to define the value of test because intially I need it to be equal to nothing and the <a> will define the value. But, this doesn't work because if I do this like you suggested after I close the link </a> the value of test will go right back to nothing. So, I don't know if this is possible what I am trying to do. I need conditional statements basically. So, if test <div tal:condition=test> is true it needs to perform an operation. But to perform the operation it has to be triggered by the link. How is the a element supposed to be "defining the value"? The a element is just something you render onto the page during processing. If you know the value you will stick into it, use that value for the test. In fact, the whole test could be done outside the scope of the a element. Please explain more clearly what you are trying to accomplish, and where the data to do it is supposed to come from. Cheers, Tom P

FileSystemSite aware product

Hi, I have a container product and I would like to write the corresponding FSxxx adapter. It would be nice if I could map the object as a folder on the filesystem. I've got this working, but I find my solution too complex. It would be nice if someone could give a better way. I map the object to a file "name.xxx" (which stores some object properties) and a folder "_name.xxx" (which is hidden to FSSite and acts as the real container). In the product I define three classes: * XxxSurrogate(DirectoryViewSurrogate, Xxx), Xxx is the original, non FS, product class. * XxxView(DirectoryView) on which I override __of__ so it returns a XxxSurrogate for the directory "_name.xxx". * FSXxx(FSObject) which parses "name.xxx" and creates instances of XxxView. What I don't like from that solution are the XxxSurrogate and XxxView classes. Does FileSystemSite provide some way to acomplish that in a simpler way? Zope 2.7 threws many exceptions and dies

Hi list, we run Zope 2.7.2 final (Python 2.3) on an OpenBSD 3.5 box (P IV 2.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM), started by zopectl. Zope will die up to several times a day. Most times Zope will restart after a while, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes event.log would show some hundreds of entries per second like -- snip -- 2004-09-01T13:19:52 PROBLEM(100) ZServer warning: server accept() threw an exception -- /snip -- before zope dies. Weird things happen when Manager does not have View permission

Hello, I am running through a somewhat weird error. AFAICT, it should not happen. But, well, it does. This involves two folders, an user, a DTML method and a file: / (Zope root folder, which defines 'manager' as Manager) /folder (defines 'Viewer' role) /folder/acl_users (defines 'viewer' user with 'Viewer' role) /folder/method (content is '<dtml-var title_or_id()') /folder/subfolder /folder/subfolder/file All objects belong to "manager". I have defined permissions like this (the one which are not mentioned are default): - '/folder' : "View" and "Access Contents Permission" : does not acquire from parent, only granted to 'Manager' and 'Viewer' roles. - '/folder/subfolder' : as for '/folder'. - '/folder/method' and '/folder/subfolder/file': default (every permission is acquired). When I try to visit http://server/folder/subfolder/file/method as 'viewer', I am asked to authenticate myself, and I am authorized to see the title of the file. Good. But if I unselect the 'Manager' role for the 'View' permission of '/folder/subfolder', user 'viewer' is now unauthorized. proxy tool for Zope/Plone

I need to integrate a few external .asp based web tools into a plone site. Instead of recoding them and converting them to Zope products, I want to do it by "importing" them into Page templates. What I need is basically to browse another webpage through a Plone Page template, so that I can keep the look and feel of the Plone site. Just as if I jused frames or iframes. I have made something similar in the past, but not as complete. I can see this as a usefull tool in many situations. So I wondered if anybody has done something similar allready, and have any experiences they want to share. I especially wondered if there would be an advantage to using Squid/Apache as a middle layer, so that I wouldn't have to do the url rewriting myself :-s Any knowledge of documentation/pitfalls would also be appreciated. regards Max M

you don't need dtml-var inside another dtml tag... so for one thing you'd have to change: <dtml-call "SAS.queries.add_key_working(key=<dtml-var sequence-key),value=<dtml-var sequence-item>> to: <dtml-call "SAS.queries.add_key_working(key=key,value=_['sequence-item'])"> But there's another thing...you probably don't want everything in REQUEST.form.items()....this is going to include, at the very least, your submit button's name and value, which you probably don't want in your db. Better off checking explicitly for the input names you used in the html form.
