Is it possible to create e-mail containing both plain text and html versions as well as attachment using a combination of dtml-mime tags? It should look like: Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="---------boundary1" ---------boundary1 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="---------boundary2" ---------boundary2 Content-Type: text/plain <<Text version>> ---------boundary2 Content-Type: text/html <<Html version>> ---------boundary2-- ---------boundary1 Content-Type: application/pdf <<Pdf file>> ---------boundary1-- Thanks a lot! If you have received this email in error please notify the system manager. This message contains confidential information and is intended only for the individual named. If you are not the named addressee you should not disseminate, distribute or copy this e-mail.

Why is the context different for these two methods?
by Gary Duke Speer 16 Jul '04

A DTML Method with <dtml-in "objectValues('Folder')"> returns the sub-folders of it's container folder. in the same context, A DTML Method with <dtml-in "objectIds('Folder')"> returns the sub-folders of it's container folder's parent folder. why should objectIds look to the grandparent folder? Because these are in a DTML Method, I would expect both to exaluate in the context of the containing folder. Is objectIds somehow calling it's container folders' aq_parent namespace? This would seem to violate the "containment before context" paradigm. Thanks for any enlightenment, Duke (Zope 2.6.1)

The functionality to get OIDs is there. It is the "new_oid" method of "Storages". You can abuse OIDs for "identifies". -- Dieter

It is normal 'cause localhost is what the word says: a host which is local to the current machine. It won't work from other machine. > How do I do remote administrative work anyway? Supposing that you are connected to the network of a company, then you have to use the hostname of your machine or ip address in case that you use something like dhcp. ie: http://abc.def.ghi.jkl:8080/manage -> this should be your ip. Get this info by giving ipconfig in Windows, or ifconfig on linux. http://myhostname.mydomain:8080/manage Regards, Josef

Inserting foldernames into propertysheet 'selection' dropdown
by Gary Duke Speer 16 Jul '04

16 Jul '04

Happy Friday - I'm looking for syntax to properly pass folder names as a list to a propertysheet selection property. Every syntax I try gets: Error Type: In Error Error Value: Strings are not allowed as input to the in tag. The propertysheet has property 'selectfolder' of type 'selection' set to look to a method 'getfolders' for the list of options. The documentation says this property type wants either a list or tokens. One example: A dtml method named 'getfolders' contains <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder'])><dtml-var id> </dtml-in> And renders space separated tokens. My question is how to change this to produce a list in a format that the property will accept. Thank you for any guidance! Duke

I received a great suggestion that seems to be on the right track, but I am hitting a namespace issue. The suggestion was to convert the string of folder ids to a list using 'string split'. I'm hitting the error "global name 'objectValues' is not defined". Where I am at: Propertysheet has property 'selectfolder' of type 'selection' that obtains it's list from the method 'returnfolders' DTML Method 'returnfolders' contains <dtml-return "_.string.split(getfolders(),' ',0)"> to parse the string of space-separated folder names from 'getfolders' into a list. By itself, this works. DTML Method 'getfolders' contains <dtml-in "objectValues(['folder'])"><dtml-unless hidefolder><dtml-var id> </dtml-if><dtml-in> to generate the filtered list of ids. By itself, this works. When 'returnfolders' executes 'getfolders' it returns an error - 'objectValues is not defined'. I tried the underscore namespace, '_.objectValues...' with no success. Any ideas? Hi Andrew, thanks for the feedback. Let's forget this ZClasses thing for a while. What do you think are the Zope's key features that take more time for newbies to learn? Are Versions evil?
by Peter Sabaini 16 Jul '04

Are Zope Version objects evil? I'm doing a bit of work on the Zope Book and have stumbled across the section describing Versions (I dont use them myself). I seem to remember that some people encountered bugs using Versions and there has even been talk[1] of deprecating[2] them; on the other hand there isn't much in the way of bug reports about Versions in the Collector[3]. Has anyone had trouble using Versions recently? Should I advise against using Versions in the Zope Book? Thanks, peter.
